Darrell Arthur, Hoopmasters.com #14 senior, is having a Strong Senior Campaign
By Hoopmasters Staff
Darrell Arthur, a 6-foot-9 big man from Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff, is having a strong senior season.
Darrell Arthur, a 6-foot-9 big man from Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff, is the top available high school talent in the country. Arthur, the #14 senior in the country by Hoopmasters.com, is averaging 17.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game this season.
South Oak Cliff is 21-5 and ranked #1 in Class 4A v by the Dallas Morning News. The record is a bit misleading as two of their losses were to out-state top ranked teams New York Rice and St. Benedict's (NJ).
Arthur is considering SMU, Baylor, Indiana and Kansas. He visited those four campuses this past fall along with North Carolina. Indiana and Kansas, Arthur took official visits last fall to Baylor, Southern Methodist and North Carolina. "Slim Shady" is an expected McDonald's All- American.

That looks like some hope to me.
Go Mr. Tubbs lets shoots some hoops DA.
DA could come to SMU and get through law school and DA could be the DA in Dallas.

In a new-ish (2/9/06) Rivals story, Arthur says it's the same four: SMU, Baylor, Indiana and Kansas.
I would get excited about being listed first, except that he has Baylor second and Kansas last. Not sure there's anything to to the order in which the schools are listed. But there is is ... we're still on the short list.

The good thing is that we are on his list, now lets get a commitment, come one Arthur you can take us to the NCAA tournament and then go first round, you got a lot going for you at SMU.

I get the feeling that Arthur wants to commit to SMU

, but is hesitant to make that final commitment until he absolutely has to

An earlier article indicated that we were no longer on Arthur's list. Additionally, his mother said we were off. Now a later article indicates that we are back on. A season ticket holder that sits next to me saw Tubbs at a Richardson Berkner game recently and Tubbs told him not to count us out in the quest for Arthur's services. I get the feeling that Arthur wants to play every game in front of his family and friends just like Dez, who returned to Dallas because he found out that the grass wasn't greener on the other side. Yes you can play in front of lots of fans at other arenas, but it may mean more to play in front of family and friends. Additionally, he might find it more special to be the start of something and make his mark on it rather than just be an asterisk at another program that is already well recognized.

I think Richardson Berner is where football/Basketball star recruit 6-1 Justin Johnson plays. He is rated highly in both sports and SMU is in the early mix-although I'm not sure for which sport.

Tubbs wouldn't confirm whom he was looking at, but you are probably right. We a good guard who can shoot

I wonder how much of Shady's interest in Indiana is contingent on Mike Davis being the coach. Listening to the way this guy(Davis) is talking as of late, he sounds like a Dead Man Walking.

In the spirit of Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber it really doesn't say that. The artickle says "If I had to choose right now, it would be between Kansas, Indiana or Baylor". Maybe a small distinction but he really didn't rule SMU out. "So you're saying there's a chance"!!!!!!!!!

For what it’s worth, ESPN is reporting that Davis told the press today that Indiana needs a coach who is an IU grad, someone the fans will embrace. Translation- Davis will not be back next season. If true, you can cross Indiana off the list.
