Fun filled stat of the day

SMU has beaten only two teams all year that currently have a winning record - Harvard (12-9) and Hardin-Simmons (14-9). Hardin-Simmons is not a D-1A school. SMU's 10 D-1A wins have come over opponents whose combined record is 65-166.

That isn't very fun filled Frisco.

Maybe Hopkins will show up to play at his last home SMU game and we can upset someone.

if it makes you feel better TCU is dead last out of something like 360 teams in the NCAA in FG % at 36.0 and shot 21% the other Nite. They are even lower rated than us in RPI and standing at 5-20. We are truly about an 10-18 type team that padded its schedule with horrendous cupcakes-but that's the way things are done to make us feel "good" here now in Cupcake Land.

Only makes us "feel good" if we were winning....this way it only makes us feel less than [deleted].

That is nice (about beating TCU and they are terrible) but we still completely suck right now...so I don't feel any better :?

We dropped to 268 just below our old Conference powerhouse SJSU and TCU is 282

Good post Frisco..

To expand on it...this is what I said last year

SoCal_Pony wrote:Here are our 14 wins this year with our opponents RPI rankings in parenthesis:

Hawaii (140), LA Tech (155), Fresno State (166), Montana State (257), 2 wins against Boise State (259), 2 wins against Tulsa (261), Texas State (269), Baylor (273), 2 wins against SJS (293), Ark Pine Bluff (314) and UT Tyler non-division 1 (no ranking).

Next year we lose our top two rebounders and a third player, who, while rather unremarkable, did start 24 games this season while averaging almost 30 minutes per game.

So we can argue all we want about whether or not we will be better next season. Personally I don’t see how we can get THAT much better

And here are the current RPI rankings of the teams we have defeated THIS year.

Harvard (176), Rice (196), So Miss (249), ECU (273), TCU (283), Long Island (300), Centenary (323), Texas-Pan Am (325), Texas State (326), Savannah St (332) and Hardin Simm non-division 1 (no ranking).

So the AVERAGE RPI for the teams we defeated last year was 251 and for this year it is 278.

Good stats

It was very interesting seeing the type of schedule that the SMU men have played the last 2 years. What that says to me is that the SMU coach doesn't believe he has the horses to compete at a very high level. To me the real question is does the schedule prepare you for the conference tournament or the post season? I would gather to say no.

I'm afraid we'd lose to Baylor this year. And how did we beat La Tech? Or any team twice last year?

We beat Froggie High in football, men's basketball and women's soccer, and lost to them in women's basketball and I think women's tennis. I would assume that if the Frogs ventured into the pool with us, Coach Collins' women and Coach Sinnott's guys would blow 'em away. Have we played them in anything else?

Damn nice year to be a Mustang, huh?

not particularly-No. Perhaps you need to aim higher than mediocre and poor.

You wouldn't call it enjoyable to beat TCU in football and men's basketball after losing to them so many times in recent years?

More enjoyable to win than to lose regardless of previous record against an opponent.

It is enjoyable however I would take a winning season with real schedules in mens' bball and fball ....that to me would be enjoyable. If we lost to TCU, I wouldn't really care...

I don't think anyone didn't enjoy beating TCU, I just think most of us would rather be beating them not because we either had a good day when they had an off day (football), or because they have gotten so horrible that practically anyone can beat them (men's basketball), but because they are good and we are just better.
