SMU went on a 21-4 run in the first half, now leading 25-13. Ladies playing well! I suspect Rhonda will have them making some serious noise in the CUSA tourney, held on our own homecourt!

GO MUSTANGS!

Ponies win, I think it was 63-61. Houston made a nice comeback in the 2nd half, but we held them off for the win.

Nice job ladies! I'd say this team is as good as any SMU women's team I've seen since 2000, so many talented players. I think we're now in a 4-way tie for 2nd place or something ridiculous like that, but without a meltdown, I'd hope we can get to the big dance.

Go Ponies!

I'd think the only way we can is if we can win the CUSA tourney. I think we have shot, but we need to figure out how to solve Tulsa in order to do it. They do say it is difficult to beat a team three times in a season, and we've lost twice so hopefully we can break the spell if we meet them in the tourney.

I watched the game. Any time you get a win when your best player is neutralized by pretty physical play for women's hoops, you have to like it. I hope we can solve Tulsa. Rice did on Sunday. We should be tied for second with Rice and I think Marshall. Anyway, a good run in the CUSA tourney and we should be in pretty good shape for at least a NIT bid. If we win the tourney (which is altogether possible since Tulsa might be beaten by the likes of Rice or Marshall) we would go to the NCAA's. Le't hope we get a 2 or 3 seed that way, we avoid Tulsa until the finals.

Good game by the ladies. Big lead, a little lapse, gut check, comeback. Something in the intensity we have been missing on the men's side for a long time. And the ladies did it on the road. Good job ladies and good job Rhonda.

The ladies are tied for 2nd with Rice and Southern Miss. We hold the tie-breaker edge over Southern Miss, by beating them in head-to-head, but we split 1-1 with Rice, and they have the tie-breaker edge by virtue of their win over Tulsa, yesterday. The Lady Owls finish the season on the road at UAB, who could pull an upset, and Memphis, who they will most likely beat. Rice has been dominant at home (wins over Tulsa, SMU, and Southern Miss) but has struggled on the road. We could get the 2nd seed in the tournament if Rice loses to UAB, otherwise we should be 3rd. There is almost no difference between seeds 2 and 3, they both get a first round bye, and then would play each other in the semis. So, either way, unless Rice loses on the road, we would play them again in the semifinals.

If Rice slips up then they would fall to fourth if USM and SMU run the table, right? I like that scenario the best. Have Rice meet Tulsa in the semis and us play USM. Then if SMU and Rice win, Rice in essence has to beat us at home.

Yes, a loss by Rice and SMU and USM sweeping the weekend puts Rice in 4th. But, USM finishes on the road at Marshall and East Carolina, and could lose one or both. A loss by Rice and a USM loss to Marshall creates a 3 way tie for 3rd, and things get seriously complicated then. I think Marshall might hold the tiebreaker in that scenario.
