For those of you that don't know, NBAdraft.net is a website that does a mock draft for this upcoming nba draft and the following one (07). Anyways they ranked the top seniors and Hopkins is on there, but not in the top 50. Should he deserve to be? I don't think so...out of high school yes but not now.

That site projects next year's draft, too. It has Darrell Arthur going 26th overall (to Miami, at the moment).

A few weeks ago he was in the late teens.

I never know how to rank B-hop.

Playing 1 on 5 really doesn't make it easy to assess one's talent.

He will dominate the Turkey or Israel league.

If he can't dominate CUSA how can he dominate the Turkish or Israeli league?

i compare him to Dajuan Wagner from memphis- (who was drafted above amare stoudemire, ouch) and Wagner is awol after the Cavaliers stopped playing him last year.

Wagner scored 100 in a high school game once...and he didn't stay in the NBA because he couldn't stay healthy.

hmm, then maybe hes like a low rent Jameer Nelson.

I am thinking he is more like a Scoonie Penn, someone who will be successful at basketball, but not in the NBA. How can Hopkins play in the NBA? He is too undersized to be a 2 and he turns it over too much and doesn't have enough court vision to be a 1.

Rick Rickert dominated in one of those leagues, and could barely make the NBDL. Hopkins can play overseas, and probably do quite well.

Agreed. In the right league, Hop could have a very long, prosperous career. Tim Mason played in Japan for what .... 12 years? (He might still be playing -- I don't know.) American players can make a damn good living overseas. I'd love to see Hop get a chance here, but if that doesn't pan out, I hope he does very well for a long time, wherever he ends up.

And who's Rick Rickert?

mffl - your absolutely wrong - Hop has very good court vision. Hes sacrificing, again, by playing the 2. Plus, as sensible smu fans know, his teammates cannot catch his passes.

The scouts regard him higher than this board thinks - not saying he will play in the nba, but theres a decent chance.
