So we have Rice again in the first round. Losing is never popular, but we were without Bamba Fall for most of the game and still only lost by two on their floor. This is a team we split with -- how much did Fall do in the first meeting? On a neutral floor, there's no assurance that we'll win, but it's certainly not an unwinnable game. Hopefully Hop will hit his shots, and Morris will resume a bigger role on the offensive end.

Didn't Coach Tubbs say on the air the other night that he won't play?

He hurt his back again in the first half of the Rice game Saturday night and did not play the rest of the game. They said on the radio that he is most likely done for this year. Of course, our "season" is down to the final one or two games, so I don't see any need to play him anymore, even if he thinks he can. Let him heal up for next season. At least Morris is back.
No TV for the first round. If we somehow beat Rice, the game against UAB will be on CSTV (directtv, DISH, and computer) at noon on Thursday.....

Even without Fall (although I'd love to see him in there), there's no reason we can't beat Rice. I'm not saying we will, but we definitely can.
So .... WHEN we beat Rice .... who's up for playing hooky for a couple of hours and meeting up for a game-watching party someplace?

Believe me, I hope we do beat them, but Rice just seems to be a better team than us. Rice played pretty poorly on Saturday and still beat us by 2. They missed a lot of layups and struggled at the freethrow down the stretch. Up until SMU's offense shut down with about 7 minutes to go, we were actually playing one of our better games of the season....
If they do win, I'm up for watching it somewhere....I may just wait to circle it on my calendar until after 2:00pm on Wednesday.

I hope we win too, but does anyone remember last year when we played Rice to a close, overtime loss in the last regular season game? All that hope, just to come out and get donkey-punched in the first round of the tournament. Hopefully not a repeat of 2005.

That was a tough loss to watch last year, too reminescent of the Holiday Bowl loss.

I have faith! Hopkins and Morris and Roberts will lead the charge.
SMU 72

Exactly, Hopkins drops 20, SMU hits double-digit three pointers, with Willingham having a huge game, GO PONIES...

If we hit double-digit 3s, we'll win by double digits, too.
