SMU (-2) vs Rice (CUSA Tournament)

Postby SMULLET » Tue Mar 07, 2006 3:10 pm

SMU is a 2 pt favorite vs Rice tomorrow afternoon....

We managed to beat the spread vs Rice in our last game by half a point.

that baffles me, especially with Fall injured. I do think Morris being back makes a difference, but that would be negated if Fall can't play. Still dont know who can match up with Morris Almond, Devon isnt quick enough and Roberts isnt strong enough. I think Tubbs should put on a uni and guard Almond so that when he makes a bucket, Icon can truly blame it all on Tubbs.

I don't get that line. Very lucky win at home and lost a few days ago.

OT the first time the teams met, and a two-point game Saturday.
Translation: these teams are about as even as you can get.

I went down to Houston and watched the game Saturday and was here at Moody for the first one. While both games were close and ended up being split, Rice is the better team. They blew the game here in Dallas and let us come back to tie it despite being down 7 with 1 minute to go. The game in Houston should not have been that close, they missed a ton of layups (maybe even more than SMU) and didn't shoot free throws as well as they usually do.

Of course, Almond is the biggest difference. Rice has a star that actually puts the ball in the hole when his team needs him, unlike us.

This seems very similar to last year. We played Rice in two over time games and then they trounced us in the first round of the tournament.

I hope we win, I really do...but we will need some guys to contribute and have a good scoring game tomorrow, which is something that has not happened in a long time.

Boys, I must admit I think somebody has a crush on me- writing about me in posts I haven't even commented on. [deleted]

Almond, while he is a very good player, is not God's gift to basketball. After seeing him torch us the other night we should make some adjustments and more than likely hold him to under 25. If this happens SMU has a pretty good shot of moving on to round 2, with or without Bamba.

thata boy, way to pull out the random gay references. always a sign that someone is flustered and/or lacks class. I assume you are just flustered and aren't used to having anyone challenge your agenda. My comment was more of joke than anything else and it challenged your position, not you personally. Grow up, dude.

Unfortunately, this is the second time...he scored 32 here in Dallas and then after our "adjustments" he scored 40 the next time. He is streaky, kinda like the Rice team in general...they have played some real stinkers this year, but they have also played several good teams tough and had some good wins....they trounced Houston.

I hope we come out strong and can pull this one out..I would love to take a half a day on Thursday and catch the game on the TV over a few beers.

I agree. It's not like they're loaded around the guy.

Hey we could make a run in this tourney, let's take out Rice and then knock down some shots against UAB and then who knows, it would be great if SMU could throttle UAB and knock them out of the NCAA tournament...GO PONIES
