LILY WHITE?

While watching alot of college hoops this weekend I noticed something. I saw that most of the teams playing, had a fair share of white players on the floor. I know SMU has this reputation for being a "lilly white" school, but after looking at the roster, SMU had only one white player suit up this year. What does this mean? Does SMU not recruit the white player, because of the "better athlete" is black theory? Or will the good white players not come to SMU?

Oh please. In recent years, the Ponies have signed The Rack, Reay, Ritter, Williams and have a commitment for next year from the guy in Richardson. SMU will sign the best players it can, regardless of race.

Yes, it is SMU's failure to recruit that elusive lily white athlete that has hurt us...
You are a fool.

I'm not sure how far back the great white hope search goes, but how about Chad Allen in 1993?

I wouldn't mind a lineup with Billy Allen on the point, Dave Phieler as the shooting guard, Gene Phillips my swing #3, Jay Poerner at PF and Jon Koncak in the post. That's as "lily white" as you can get, but that group would be very competitive.
Just get the players...who cares what color they are.

Chad Allen was silky smooth from behind the arc.

I don't care if they're white, red, black, or yellow - (I wouldn't mind Yao Ming at center). If they can play hoops at the Division 1 level and help us beat other teams, I say get them. If Jimmy Tubbs has to hike over the Himalayas to find the next great power forward in Mongolia, I say get your snowshoes, Jimmy. I think this thread gets the Daniel Carver Award.

IF Jimmy climbed the Himalayas would that be a good story to tell the recruits?
