Why all the outrage?I supported the Tubbs' hire and bought into the whole DISD argument for him getting us local recruits. While his tenure has been short, his results have been unimpressive both on the court and in attracting local kids. This is setting aside what the off court NCAA problems were based on the lack of information that's being reported. Morris and Fall look promising, but they're not from around here and even with them and Hopkins, we were pathetic this year. Accordingly, while we cut bait quickly, it's not like the guy delivered anything less than mediocrity to below mediocrity. So why is everyone so up in arms? I'd like to see us get a guy who will actually win some games and attract some talent. I know better to expect a turnaround, but it's not like the guy accomplished anyhing - and yes, I acknowledge the obvious limitations in our facilities, admissions, requirements, pathetic fan support, etc.
Because nobody knows why we are really firing him, and with the only known NCAA violations that are floating around being minor ones, the whole thing seems fishy. You just don't fire a coach after two years, no matter how poorly he has done, unless there is something else major going on. What we have heard isn't anything major. This creates confusion, and frustration, and fear, which leads to anger, which leads to the dark side.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
I hope it is just as simple as Orsini is using this as an excuse to make his own hire. I would really hate to see a major violation come to light, we have enough problems already.
Hopefully, it is just the new AD feeling we need a new coach.
I disagree, if SMU is firing him there better be a bigger story than burgers and suds.
Not saying that is not a crappy thing to do, but those are the breaks. Anytime a new AD is hired there is a good chance a few of your coaches are going to lose their jobs.
Plus, it sounds like they are buying out his contract, not just firing him for "just cause" which would require no compensation.
..all I have heard on this board over the last 45 days is what a lousy, crapppy coach Tubbs is, AND who should replace him, even before all this new junk surfaced....so why all this outrage, and "raw deal" talk?? Is he a good coach or not? Can he compete locally, regionally, and nationally for C-USA type recruits? Is he a good game caoch? This board has absolutely FRIED him of late...now, it's a "bad thing"???? I don't get it....Long Live Sonny Allen, is he interested?
I find it very hard to believe that Copeland is paving the way for his successor to hire his own coach. We may be compensating Tubbs, but we have also closed the door on his ability to be a head coach again.
This is tragic however you paint it. Tubbs' hiring was a long overdue connection to our friends and neighbors to the south. He loved the school and brought that passion to work with him every day. And, yes, it will put a damper on his career aspirations. Only time and more information will tell whether he brought it on himself or not. Current information suggests not.
good summary.
