This is in no order of preference.
Gonzales just got hired by Seton Hall, Brownell got hired by Wright State. Those WERE my first two choices.
*Evans from ASU & Ole Miss
*Pete Gillen (Xavier & UVA)--Expensive
*Larry Eustachy (Iowa State & Souther Miss)
*Ruland (Iona)--Played at Iona, but has interviewed for Temple and University of Miami last year.
*P.J. Carlesimo (Seton Hall, Warriors, assistant with Spurs)
*Assistants from big-time programs
*Sutton (Oral Roberts)
Fellas, add on some names.

I would strike Larry Eustachy, what has he done at Southern Miss? They were worse than we were last year. I am tempted to say that without the money and support of a BCS school he isn't that great.

What is the latest on Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Last I heard (quite a while ago) he was coaching at the high school level for free to get experience. Did he ever get picked up somewhere? He would at least have name recognition.

Did pretty boy Quinn Snyder already get another gig? That guy's a good coach.

Again, why would any legitimate coaching candidate come to SMU, seriously? SMU = dated facilities, transfer/JUCO unfriendly, in an average to below average mid-major conference, zero fan/student/alum support and apparently our lame duck AD will be making the hire. Not to mention the last coach was stabbed in the back because he pissed off an alum with a fat wallet (and yes, until I hear otherwise, I will believe that story).

Hey, you forgot to praise the DMN for their great page 1 coverage of SMU basketball today!

Thanks for the laugh LHF 68! I think Quin has a little more dirty laundry than JT.

C'mon now, let's be positive. How about Jay Piehler... former SMU Mustang (haven't had one of those since Bob Prewitt) and Matt Williams' coach at Plano West. Maybe grandad would like that.

What does have SMU have to offer?
Ron Meyer: "Dallas, Dallas, Dallas"
Moody is fine for what we draw, maybe not for 20,000.
As I said before, haters stay out.

Would it really make that much of a difference if we just went without a head basketball coach?
The team would probably still win 8-12 games and the athletic department could save some money.
Just an idea...

Don Nelson ----
He will be in town more now that he opened up his new restaurant/bar and besides, since he owns the joint, the players could eat and drink there for free. Maybe he even has a washing machine in back.....
