Have you seen an organization botch PR as bad as SMU? I am not sure they could have handled this with the public and the media any worse.

If I wre that Orsini guy, I'd be seriously thinking twice about my decision. It'll be funny as hell if he pulls a Bill McCartney after seeing what he's getting into in advance.

Orsini knows everything that is going on. There is no way that any of this happened without his knowledge and approval.

I agree, but why can't you wait until his arrival? It's basically a month. Then you can blame it on the new AD...a PR spin.

Well then if he actually wants to come to a program that handles things as badly as SMU has handled this, he's an idiot.

SMU PR......Hehehehehe. That's an oxy moron.
I've never seen such ineptitude. Truly embarrasing. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if SMU fudged up the Bush library bid with crappy PR.
Heck SMU and Bush deserve each other. Both operations have something in common: Craptastic PR operations!!!

Do you desire further ill to fall on SMU? It's the only time I ever really see you jacked up. Sad.

I've noticed the same about jtstang; he seems to get real fired up when SMU takes a hit.

SMU didn't just take a hit, SMU just strapped one of Mohamed's bombs on and blew their [deleted] up.
The "funny as hell" statement made by JT meant SMU would reapping what they have sown and that Karma would have [deleted] slapped them, not that it would be funny ha ha.

How could the PR have been handled differently? The reaction from the DMN was totally predictable as well as the DISD coaches that have not helped SMU get even one recruit as they pledged.
Tubbs has the DISD coaches to blame as much as anyone.
Tubbs performance at SMU has been nothing but mediocre and I detect that Orsini will not be accepting that. While there is likely more than burgers and detergent in the NCAA investigation, I do not doubt that it is being used as cover to allow Orsini to bring his guy in.
There is not much that could have been done with the PR on the firing but one will need to see the story of the hiring and any attendent recommitment to the bball program to see if SMU PR is good or bad (on this transition.)

jtstang - some of your posts are really sad...you seem to find entertainment in difficult situations for SMU.
Public problems for SMU are NOT entertaining.

I think its more like whistling as you go past the graveyard. Sometimes, people laugh about a horrible situation than to cry about it its their grief mechanism. We're not Aggies for heaven's sake.

jtstang is one of my favorite posters. Funny, insightful, REALISTIC! and has been around long enough, has seen the good and bad, to make the accurate observations he does..some of you think the SMU athletic sun rose with lord j and Q, coupled with Dmyron and Bobby Chase.....after awhile around here, things get old, the fumbles, bumbles and stubbs become sort of comical, and YES!!, it is hard to stay all freakin' pumped up, after all, the KOOL-Aid DOES start to taste a little rancit.
