Per the DMN:
"SMU coaching search to extend to next week
08:56 PM CDT on Thursday, April 20, 2006
By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News
UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU president Gerald Turner said he hopes the school names a men's basketball coach next week. Jimmy Tubbs was fired in early April. The two leading candidates, Matt Doherty (Florida Atlantic) and Rob Evans (Arizona State, Mississippi), have interviewed with incoming athletic director Steve Orsini."
At least it is still between Doh and Evans........

I feel like there is somebody else. I just don't know who.

I get the same feeling. I'm not saying that neither of these guys will get the job, but I just think there's a dark horse candidate out there somewhere (like Steve-O was in the AD hunt).

I may be splitting hairs but this article does not say the search will extend into next week, only that they hope to name a coach next week. They may be wrapping up loose ends with someone, or possibly waiting to avoid that nasty weekend announcement.

I am in my 3rd week of sobriety when it comes to drinking and posting. One day at a time.

I am old enough to know not to ever rely on the title of an article to know what it says.

We will be lucky to get Dement back given the current direction of this program, lack of facilities, potential for sanctions, unwillingness to pay a competitive salary, etc. I think Rhonda might be a good choice given all that is going on.

Ponymon, 420 was yesterday. Or did you just continue on the haze until you decided to post that today? Lucky to get Dement back? Doherty or Evans would be a great hire for just about any program, much less us. I think are coaching search is going much better than any of us could have hoped for and will lead to our return to success.
