ESPNews Weighs InESPNews is about to bring on their College Basketball analyst to talk about the hire, I'll post a recap...
#NewLobCity
The analyst, something Gotlieb:
-Dohety is a real good recruiter, rebuilt his image at FAU. -Talked with Doherty over the last two nights. -SMU could be "a great program" if we want to. Go from mid-major to a "high-major" type program -Have the city, finances, talent in the area, etc. -Said we will try and recruit the best talent in the area and also work on getting "bounce-back" talent. (According to him: recruit the best players in the area when they are in high school and then try to get them to transfer back to the area when they are unhappy at a Big 12 school) -Reiterated that we could be really good if we just invested resources into the program (I think we all think the same thing) Overall it was about a minute and a half converstion. Seemed very knowledgeable about our school. This was another feather in the cap of those who like the pub that his name brings us. We would not have been discussed on the "Hot List" or whatever the show is called if it wasn't for his past. #NewLobCity
Found this quote on ESPN form Derrick Roberts. I hope that he has the same effect on Morris and Fall.
Sophomore guard Derrick Roberts said he believes Doherty can revive the program. "The first time I heard his name, I stopped listening to all the things about the other candidates," Roberts said.
