Likewise, George Lynch who played on Dean's second championship team neither played with nor for Doherty, yet he was quoted in the press conference coverage supporting Doherty. What this shows me is that Doherty is still a part of the UNC family and will be supported by that group. I think that is great for SMU on two levels. First, having ex-UNC and current or former NBA players helping Doherty out will help recruiting. Second, it suggests that UNC alums do not blame Doherty for the McCants rebellion that got him run out of Chapel Hill.
