stackhouse and doherty

did doherty play with stackhouse or have any affiliation with him, coaching or playing while doherty was at UNC

other than both being UNC alums,no. Stack was already in the NBA when doherty got to UNC.

Stackhouse played long after Doherty played and well before Doherty coached there. Likewise, George Lynch who played on Dean's second championship team neither played with nor for Doherty, yet he was quoted in the press conference coverage supporting Doherty. What this shows me is that Doherty is still a part of the UNC family and will be supported by that group. I think that is great for SMU on two levels. First, having ex-UNC and current or former NBA players helping Doherty out will help recruiting. Second, it suggests that UNC alums do not blame Doherty for the McCants rebellion that got him run out of Chapel Hill.

No, what I meant was Stack was already in the NBA when Doherty got to UNC as the head coach. I just merely forgot to clarify that part, which is what PonyGrad was ribbing me about.
