"Thank you, Gerry Ford" comments there were in the press conference? Orsini, Doherty & Turner all made such coments more than once. Was this because he (Ford) was on the committee, or because perhaps he's already ponied up some practice facility $$?

I was going to point out the fact that Matt sure seemed to know Gerald's name real well. Like I said, just keep the man happy and all our needs can be taken care of. He is one of the 400 RICHEST men in America, according to Forbes magazine. If he earns just 5% on his $1.5 BILLION net worth a year that is $75 MILLION in interest. Just a small fraction of that will pay for all the facilities SMU currently needs!

my god. that is a lot of money. i sure hope he likes doherty. and orsini. it's already apparent that doh and orsini are jumping through hoops; or at least they know something we don't.

Any candidate who wants a job does his homework. When a man is on the search committee, is chairman of the board of trustees of your potential employer and has his name over the door of the biggest and most expensive athletic facility in the history of the school, it would have been insane NOT to know Gerald Ford's name.

Besides, I gather Coach D went to his press conference directly from his meeting with the search committee, which would have included Ford.

Everyone should realize that a ship takes a LOT of effort and time to turn around.

The Faculty senate was a tremendous burden, and still is.

I only assume now that they are on board after seeing the results from the Duke, NW, Vandy, Rice, Stanford surveys on their respective Athletic admissions...

And I hope to god they can see what athletics has done for TCU's ACADEMIC success ... nevermind what it will do for UTexas this year with Record admissions to choose from.
