Did anybody hear Doherty on with Cooperstein? I missed it.

Crap -- I didn't know he was on, or I would have listened.
Anyone? Anyone?
SMU needs to get Coach Doherty out there on every show in town.

Coop is always interesting. We should get him to come to an SMU game.

I caught the last 3 minutes and Coach Doherty was very upbeat and intense with ole Coop. I missed what Coop said, but when I tuned in Doh was saying he was going to write the date down and remind Coop of his words after SMU was successfull. Coop asked him about the DISD rift and he repeated what he said at the press conference about recruiting inside out and building relationships. Stressed the relationship part and said everyone gets where they are through them. Said all it takes in basketball is 3 great players and two role players and you can make it to the final four. He actually brought up Duke, I believe Georgia Tech and Notre Dame as examples and said in 5 years we could be there. What little I heard was very impressive and I can see how he can sell players on what he says.

Is there any way to find a link on the radio station's website so we can hear the interview?

He is about the only local media person who comes to games occassionally. I've never seen Galloway, Hardline, anyone from the Ticket for that matter, Newy, or anyone else there.

Galloway doesn't go to anything except Cowboys games, horse races and the occasional Rangers game. He openly jokes about how he never even sees the Mavericks or Stars play.

The HardLine (and the rest of the Ticket guys, other than Norm Hitzges) do not qualify as media, although I have seen some of their part-time "Ticker" guys there (at least that's who I assume they are, with Ticket stickers all over their bags, etc.)

I expect that at least at the beginning of the season, some media types will turn out to cover the Doherty debut. It won't be Hansen or Galloway or Laughenberg, but they'll send their minions.

How about the date about 5 years ago, when Coop said on-air that he didn't know why a school like SMU even had a football team? He asked what good they could possibly expect in continuing the program. (That's just foolish.)

Real upbeat stuff. He's no friend of SMU.

At least Galloway has called the death penalty what it was - the most unjust penalty ever handed down by the NCAA.

Coop frequently attends SMU basketball and football games.

I wish he'd talk about SMU - positively, at least occasionally.

I've never heard him speak well of this place where he spends so much time.

Ah, a bandwagon boy of jtstang's I see.

I don't belittle anyone. I simply offered my observation of Cooperstein.

Let's see... I'm bitter, but I'm always a cheerleader. Hmmmmm.

Yep, that sums it up.
