Didn't know where to put this, not interesting enough for its own thread, but every other thread is so beat down.......
Per Calvin:
Matt Doherty highlights
Some highlights of the Wednesday lunch with SMU men's basketball coach Matt Doherty and some South Dallas business leaders:
Doherty and SMU senior associate athletic director Carlton Cooper had pleasant conversations with many of the people that attended lunch. Doherty traded jokes with William Blair, a former Negro League pitcher, and with Marvin Robinson, an investor in the concession business, who owns several at American Airlines Center.
Business cards were also exchanged between several of the parties.
When Doherty walked into Luby's he was met with sharp turns of the head. As Doherty was paying for his meal, the cashier said, “I saw you on the news, you’re the one who wants to put that system in place.â€
Doherty, smiling, gave the woman a high-five.

that is funny. Doherty is a sharp character. We'll see how long the honeymoon lasts. Honeymoon may not be the right word outside of the Hilltop. We'll see how long this freshness and vigor in the community lasts. Usually it can only last until the season begins and then words no longer matter, only what your team does. I hope Doherty can survive the low points that lie ahead better than tubbs did.

I think Doherty is pumped about next season. If he isn't, he got a great poker face, and is pretty good at getting money in the bank and our name on the pages.

have you guys honestly never seen this process before? Do you know what a dog and pony show is? Bennett had a great honeymoon, lots of good one liners in the press and dog and pony shows. Two years later, 90% of you were ready lynch him. It would be funny if it wasnt so damn sad.

Let him or her be excited about Doherty. Its not a crime. We all know that if next season SMU is a PATHETIC 4-10 in conference then people will jump of his badnwagon just like they would with any other coach. You don't have to make it your job in every post to remind people to dislike the guy if we suck. That will come naturally. I just happen to be of the belief that we will be improved over last season's 4-10 so I am not too concerned as of now.

I will admit to being very sunshiney since our Orsini/Doherty hires. I am optomistic about the direction of our basketball program and think we will improve in spite of the losses the team has suffered. But I do appreciate you calling me out for the sunshiner I am when it comes to bball now!

I am happy about the new additions too. I just think it will take a couple of years!
