Rivals = Shady decision delayed

Instead of Darrell Arthur letting everyone know who he was going with, the web site says it's coming sometime this week.
I guess the alums at KU, Baylor and LSU are trying to make their money laundering systems can't be traced before they make their final offers.
This whole recruitment efforts with this young man smells so bad. Now we know why Bob Knight loathes AAU coaches. These guys have so much more influence on a kids choice than the high school coach.
Best regards,

Amusing idea about KU, LSU and Baylor. Didn't someone report recently that LSU was the frontrunner? It's just hard to believe Baylor's even in the mix. I know, Coach Drew is the second coming of Coach K .... it's still a poor team with potential, in a conference with teams that can pound 'em (at least for now), and it's in Waco. It just does not add up.
Just out of curiosity, what's your connection to the Big 10?

Extremely unlikely, I know, but is there any reason to believe that this delay might be related to Doh? Please?

That would be hard to imagine. It would be nice, to be sure, but I just can't see it. Then again, at least he can walk in to someone's house and say "look at all these other guys I recruited who made it to the NBA...."

Typical bitter SMU fans. If he isn't coming here, he must be getting paid.

I know I'm setting myself up to get torched on here as this is purely speculation...but any chance this high stakes Shady recruitment led to the firing of our old coach? With all the pressure to land a big DISD name, is there not a slim possibility that Max Williams was asked to provide more than burgers and Cheer money to land Slim Shady? Just throwing it out there since apparently there are more serious violations that we are not being told about -- maybe they're keeping the details under wraps if they involve a current HS player in the middle of recruiting.

Nobody said that's the reason he won't land in Dallas. Pretty much everyone assumes he won't end up at SMU, and there is speculation that he could get paid elsewhere. I would think the reason he chooses LSU or Kansas would have nothing to do with any alleged improprieties. An interesting coincidence, perhaps, but I don't think anyone feels that he'd be a lock for SMU if everyone was recruiting the same way. Thus far, the only speculation about illegal recruiting anywhere is just that: speculation. We can all have our opinions, but chances are he's going elsewhere, whether someone is bending the rules or not.

As I pointed out before, the whole "violations" things started right about the same time DA was no longer listing claiming interest in us.

im so sick about hearing everything about arthur, we aren't going to get him. We really never had a chance in the first place, but now we have a good chance to get good players because of our new coaches and our future improved facilities. Lets drop arthur, and concentrate on the future which in my opinion is looking pretty good thanks to doherty.

Oh, lots cheat. That just usually isn't my first thought when a recruit goes to another school or someone wins a national championship.
With you, it is.
Unlike you, I usually need at least a small amount of evidence before I start accusing others of it.

well that would be nice if we knew of anyone Doherty is recruiting. There is no one to 'concentrate' on relevant to SMU in the public domain right now. There is nothing wrong with following Arthur. He might end up at Baylor apparently. Thats relevant to us.
As for whether Arthurs recruitment is the source of violations, that is purely speculation around here. I suppose it is possible, but sounds like it would undoubtedly rest on an accusation and he said-she said, ie a conspiracy. Its doubtful the alleged fund was even established, must less ever utilized. Even if the golf tournament was intended as a fund raiser for a wrong purpose, how would you establish that intention and substantiate it? Taped conversations or what? Golf tournaments go on for valid fundraising purposes all the time.

What is it about new coaches that brings out the Nazis on this board. We don't really care what you are sick and tired of reading about. Its a free country-love it or leave it. I'm sick and tired of hearing what Ponyfans are sick and tired of.
