Moody at its Best!

Just look at this picture culled from the SMU website regarding the signing of Cameron Spencer.......

Image

Moody is such a great place to see a basketball game....its the perfect size and when it is full the rafters shake. I am all for upgrading facilities but I hope we never change the basic layout...get a new scoreboard with video, add a few luxury boxes up high, upgrade the outside areas with better lockerrooms, restrooms, concessions and offices.....BUT never change the seating bowl and the atmosphere.

Moody is a great place to see a game and one day soon (hopefully) when we get the talent we can have capacity crowds every night like they do in Memphis.

LOVE MOODY!

I LOVE MOODY TOO

Great atmosphere. Add a bit of renovations, and shes even greater. I can't wait.

It's the same bowl as Cameron at Duke.

Having just spent the day attending my son's graduation in Moody, I must insist on better seating. Every man in the stands was uncomfortable...there is siimply not enough room between you knees and the seat in front to sit properly, much less stand. All of us remarked how the seating must have been for people 5' 5" or less as the back of the seat in front cut into our knees.

Not much can be done about that as the distance front to back of the seats are set in concrete...literally, but they could be replaced with wider seats that would allow one to spread his legs apart a bit more which might relieve some of the crampness. I do believe folks were a bit smaller back when...before every eating place started super-sizing all their menu items. Actually, I don't recall the top of the seat backs in front of me being knee high...seems to me they are lower than that. Of course that means the guy in front of me has my kneecap hitting him in the back of the head.

The seats are fine. The view is great. It's not the media room at home. It is a basketball arena. If you're uncomfortable, stand up and cheer.

Your right they cut just below the knee at the top of your shins...

the seats shouldn't matter because everyone will be standing rooting on the ponies.... :D

The Cotton Bowl did too. But at least the sight lines at Moody are excellent. Trust me you start lowering the seats and sight lines get obstructed or you start getting kicked in the head by the guy sitting behind you..

Damn when was that picture taken? It looks like a bigger crowd than the largest I can recall (TTech with Bobby Knight in tow).

Well, you guys must be shorter than 5'5"! You don't even have the room to stand.

It looks like it could be Tech. Visiting team is in all black.

"Addition to my post" I am going to renege on the Tech statement. If you click on the Cameron Spence article on the main website, there is another picture of what appears to be the same game and the visitors appear to be in royal blue unis.

Perhaps the picture has been morphed from a shot of the crowd at the Pearl Jam concert back in '92...err maybe 93 or 94.

My eyes are certainly not what they used to be but that looks an awful lot like Koncak in the picture with the article. This could be a very old photo.

When did the Moody / Mustang Maniacs become a group? There are a lot of them in that picture, so that could help with the timeline. Also, there is a cameraman in the foreground, so this game was a TV game. If the visitors are royal blue as someone indicated, my guess would be sometime during the Sasser era (somewhere between 98-01, because of the relative success in those years) and the team is probably Tulsa. Does anyone remember what game was on ESPN (I think) between TU and SMU?
