Unfortunately, the die is cast already. He either was able to take and pass a TON of hours this summer or he wasn't.

I hear that we'll be lucky to have him back for the spring. Lets hope that he really hits the books.

Stick a fork in him.........
So much for that recruiting class, huh? I guess we should hush regarding how tough it is to get into the dear old alma mater. 2 of 3 couldn't or wouldn't get it done in the class room.

Well, as long as you're not jumping the gun there. If he wasn't salvagable, would he still be on campus, going to summer school every day? If he was a lost cause academically, I would expect him to go play overseas or something and then go pro. He's still in school, so I'm hoping he makes it back. I bet with Coach D getting after him, he does.

SMU center must sit out first semester
Record-setting shot blocker Fall academically ineligible
04:15 PM CDT on Thursday, August 3, 2006
By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News
The SMU men’s basketball team will be without a major contributor for the start of the 2006-07 season for the second consecutive year. Starting sophomore center Bamba Fall is academically ineligible for the first semester.
Fall, who set a school record for blocks in a season in 2005-06, was unavailable for comment.
Fall will probably miss anywhere from seven to 10 games, depending on the number of games played during the semester.
Coach Matt Doherty said Fall is recovering nicely academically and is on target for a return in the second semester.
“We’ve seen tremendous growth,†Doherty said.
Last season, leading scorer Bryan Hopkins missed the first seven games because of academics. He later returned for the second semester and led the team in scoring again.
So good new and bad news. Looks like he can recover.

It could be worse - we could have these issues and have tubbs at the stern of our ship.
