Plano senior point guard John Roberson said Sunday that he has orally committed to Texas Tech.
Oral commitments are nonbinding. The early signing period for basketball starts on Nov. 8.
Roberson (5-11, 165) committed to the Red Raiders after a home visit with Texas Tech coach Bobby Knight on Sunday. Roberson was also considering SMU and Kansas State, but cancelled home visits scheduled the next two days with Matt Doherty and Bob Huggins.
Roberson said his fast-developing relationship with coach Knight clinched his decision.
"It sounded right and sounded like the perfect fit," Roberson said. "He's probably one of the best coaches who ever coached."
Roberson is ranked No. 139 on the Rivals.com Rivals 100 national list and 10th in the state. He helped Plano win the 2006 Class 5A state championship in his first year at the school, averaging 17.1 points and 7.2 assists per game
