Papa Dia, a 6'9 power forward from South Kent (CT) Prep, spent the weekend in the Derby City on an official visit with the Cardinal basketball program. A decision from Dia could occur as early as this evening.

Papa Dia, a 6-foot-9, power forward narrowed his list of schools to just three - Louisville, Oklahoma and SMU - prior to making an official visit with Louisville over the weekend and things have yet to change for the Scout.com three-star prospect.
The South Kent (CT) Prep product left the Derby City without making a verbal commitment, but according to head coach Raphael Chillious, a decision could occur by the end of today.

"He's going to talk to me later on this evening probably and then he'll talk to his advisors and family, and then he'll make a decision on the school," said Chillious.

"We're hoping for tonight or tomorrow, but we're not going to rush it," he continued.

Chillious said that Dia's visit to Louisville went well and that his star player was somewhat taken by surprise from the type of fan support the school's basketball program receives.

"It was a great visit," said Chillious. "One thing about his trip was that everybody knows who he is and he didn't really understand the magnitude of that down there."

If Dia picks Louisville, he would join George Goode, a 6’8, 210-pound forward from Raytown, Missouri, as the second prospect from the Class of 2007 to verbally commit to the Cardinals. Goode is rated the No. 73 prospect nationally by Scout.com.

Wow...

I hope we get Dia, he could be a big time player here, the thing I liked about when I saw Dia on campus is that he was alwasy carrying a basketball around. That shows his true passion! If he comes here he could be a big time player, hopefully he wears the red, white, and blue next year!

GO PONIES!!!

Well, the thing I liked was the way he hugged Bamba Fall at the late practice that Friday -- clearly they're pretty close.

The other thing I liked from that weekend was watching the football team win!

The more time that goes by between the time that Dia visited
Louisville and a decision announcement probably gives us a
shot. Chances are he would have committed to Louisville right
away if the big crowd and the fanfare there influenced him.

Our biggest problem in recruiting is the fan turnout. Even for
events like the opening scrimmage on a past Friday night.
No festivities - no band - very few fans in the stands. Dia was
there and saw that for himself.

The best thing we have going is Doh's enthusiasm and obvious
recruiting presence, the campus, the Boulevard (which he saw on
FB gameday), and his friendship with Bamba and Bamba's relative
(uncle?) who works for the Mavericks.

Come to Moody Dia and you and Bamba and your friends can be
part of turning this thing around. Could be fun.
