--Matt Doherty in postgame radio inteview following loss to Florida State
Folks,
This is the motto of the season. Welcome it. Embrace it. Support it. Act like we should be a good program.
Matt Doherty brings that mentality to a program that had lost it way. When he arrived, he probably immediately recognized how poisoned the culture was here and what kind of job lay ahead of him.
I don't know about any of you, but I'm ticked off we didn't beat Florida State. All of us should be. We had chances to win that game, and we didn't finish.
I've beaten this drum since he came here in April. Matt Doherty is going to drag all of us into an era of big-time basketball. And we better do our part to understand what we are capable of.
If we don't, the best thing that's come to SMU basketball since the 1987-88 season will walk away for a better situation.
And we will have no one to blame but ourselves.
There better be a bunch of butts in seats in Moody against Dayton regardless of how the football game turns out.

I just hung the last of the clothes listening to the postgame show.
That's fine if you want to be a cynic. I'm just telling you we have a tremendous opportunity in front of us.

Hasn't every coach here said something like that? "I'm not here for moral victories" , "moral victories don't count as Ws", etc.

OK. Here it is for the zillionth time. I graduated from SMU in 1991. My father graduated from Minnesota. I have good friends and family members who went to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. I lived part of my life in Minnesota.
Therefore, I am partial to that conference.
I love the Big 10. I love SMU more.

A few articles
"SMU on the rise"
"The players
“The level of instruction he’s given each one of the players has been really good,†Killen said of Doherty.
Added Rackauskas, “He wants us take care of little, small things,†he said. “He keeps telling us the small things will lead to big things, and that’s what he expects from us.â€

It's going to turn. Just watch. This team is capable of winning 18-20 games. Look at the non-conference schedule. We can go 10-4 to 12-2 with it. You split the CUSA season at 8-8. And we can. There's your win total.

For the record, I like Big 10's handle and avatar.
You know what's most amazing about these last three games, especially last night? That Doh's getting this kind of play from these players. I really didn't expect -- and perhaps I still shouldn't expect -- that we'd be even a mediocre team this year.

What you've never explained is why you yourself did not attend school in the greatest conference ever given your lineage.
