Women go to 3-0 with win over SFA

Postby Big10Ponyfan » Mon Nov 20, 2006 10:37 pm

They won in Nacogdoches, 84-75.

Gilliam (sp?) had 25 points to lead us. Our freshmen are getting a lot minutes and playing well.

We should move to the SLC. We're 3-0 against them, UT-SA, Sam Houston State and SFA.

Nonetheless, SFA beat La. Tech (not what they have been in years past) and went to the NCAA tournament last year. Good win on the road.

SFA makes the tournament every year. It wasnt so long ago that they were a Final Four team. They dominate the Southland Conference, and are usually ranked in the top-25.

This was a nice road win for the Ladies, SFA had already beaten La. Tech and C-USA member Southern Miss. The freshmen class continues to shine as Brittany Gilliam posted her career high with 25 points off the bench. Janielle Dodds also had 20 points for SMU.

As a team, the Lady Mustangs are averaging 83 points per game, and 6 different players are averaging double figures in points. Dodds is the leading scorer at 15.6 points per game.

Super nice win for the ladies. Always a plus to win on the road. Looks like the win ended a 15 game home winning streak for SFA. With SFA beating LA Tech, this is a nice win for the women. Congrats!!

Freshmen producing

Postby Bigtime41 » Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:36 pm

It was nice to see BG come out and have her break out game. Thus far in this young season the Lady Ponies are getting production from several different sources. It would appear that you can't just focus on Janelle or one person because of the weapons they have coming off the bench. As I have said before they will make some noise this year and make it to the dance! I know it's early but barr any major injury they are going to surprise a lot of people this year.
