NAIA Games Question

I noticed that Houston Baptist, Paul Quinn, and Texas College are all NAIA teams in the same conference (the Red River Athletic Conference), but we denoted th HBU game as an exhibtion on the schedule but not the other two, why so? what is the reasoning.

If you go to the Paul Quinn website they list their game against us as an exhibition but we do not.

Do these games count in the standings? I understand them not counting them when it comes to RPI or computer rankings, but can you really count a win against a NAIA team as a W?

Why did we even schedule these two games? There are over 300 D1 teams for basketball and we could not find two of them willing to come to Moody and play?

I know we can only have 2 exhibitions per season, so that answers at least one of them.

That way they don't have to count a loss against us.

Completely agree. The only possible plus here is getting some experience against a lesser opponent, but we can find a DI or DII team that is just as bad without the possible shame of losing to an NAIA team should the unthinkable happen.

This way we can kind of have a practise/exhibition, count it on our W/L but not have it impact our RPI. 8)

All good points.

Heh, just seems funny that Paul Quinn says they are coming here to play an exhibition and we are saying its a real game that counts. Lets say the FSU game was an exhibition! then we are still undefeated :P

The problem with this type of game is getting the fans to show up. I expect the student section to be half full or less because of Thanksgiving (and maybe attendance at the Rice game?) When Coach Doherty complains about the attendance, you have to look at the exciting schedule that SMU is playing this year. I think he recognizes this, which is the reason that he has used the extra two games in the future to play Memphis and Houston. I just wish we had more exciting teams like Cincinnati or some of our old SWC teams like Tech or A$M on the home schedule for this year. :?
