With the loss to Rice in Football anyone in the mood for a basketball discussion? After all I know I don't want to say anything regretful myself.

Yeah.. I never say anything regretful though. SMU always pulls through and lets me down..

Haha! I wish I could say we are a basketball school after all but I'll take the wait and see approach. At least we're 4-1 and 4-0 so far. I'm thankful we have Matt Doherty though!

I am really happy with the job Doherty has done. When you go to the game you see him standing all game long, coaching all game long, being really active. I like that style a lot. And it looks like we have some great recruits coming in next year. I am really excited about the future of SMU basketball.

As I think someone said before, if you look at the pansy schedule, we could be 13-2 going into conference play with losses to FSU and OU. Surely we can beat Prarie View, Texas State, etc..
I hope we smoke TCU. (lost at St. Mary's and beat UTA in double OT)

This team is clearly better coached this season and won't be as prone to losing games they should win as in the past. As an example, we beat Louisianna Monroe this year by 33 points yet lost to them last year by 7- granted last season we played them on the road.

True, I am guessing we won't see too many meltdowns as years past against lesser opponents. It's great to see good coaching and commitment by the players.

I like this mentality though. Yes we are playing a lot of mediocre teams but I think instilling a winning mentality in the program is a good thing..and it certainly would help with recruiting.

Absolutely agree with the last couple posts, a huge relief to see great coaching with die-hard effort on the court. I believe it's absolutely essential to play a couple cupcakes to get some confidence in our new established leaders so they get ready for some tough conference competition. All in all, I expect a very good record from our guys with a couple big wins at home against some rough competition ie houston and memphis...u heard it here first
