Another great column, Eric!
And I couldn't agree more, it's great to see the offense going through the low post first, and THEN kicking out for perimeter shots. It's amazing how much better the shooting is when the guys are wide open!
Great stuff, Castro!

Eric wrote an article echoing a sentiment that has been shared by many people on this board in previous seasons. I feel like if he could have, Eric would have written the same article as a player because we simply never got the ball down low enough. I really feel like as good of a career as Castro had, he and Simpson both could have been so much more- had they been utilized properly.

Couldn't agree with you more. Remember how clutch Castro was in the low post in his junior and senior seasons? Imagine the numbers he and Simpson would have put up if they'd been getting plays called for them all along?

We've all heard coach-speak interviews, but it's great to see things explained for the normal fan. Great columns, Eric.

Whenever Matt has a decent offensive post player, post entries will be the first priority of the offense. That's in his basketball genes. Watch for the ball being reversed quickly around the perimeter left to right as the post player seals his man to receive the pass on the right blocks. That will be the most basic maneuver in the half-court MTM offense. Another tactic that's easy to spot is the two post players exchanging positions on the baseline and screening for each other.

That's a great point, but I'm not sure if he has the personnel to install that type of offense yet. Our post players have yet to show they can seal off anyone , and I'm leery of the guards and their entry passes.
