Anybody get a glimpse of the Moody Renderings tonight?

Postby RE Tycoon » Sun Dec 03, 2006 10:42 pm

...Or better yet did anyone snap any pictures?

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent ... 477f1.html

Planned festivities include a look at the future of the basketball programs. Fans can check out renderings of the scoreboard and basketball practice facility.

SMU plans on installing the scoreboard late this month.

Anybody have any details on the new scoreboard? I assume it will have video. Are we going HD? Or will that be another replacement a few years down the line? I wonder if they even market non-HD video boards anymore. Seems like a waste of money if it's not HD because the technology is fairly prevalent these days.

It looks like the AAC scoreboard to me. I may be wrong.

I didn't get a chance to see the new scoreboard I was to busy looking at our cheerleaders and dance group. Oh wait they wern't there tonight. Is it just me or does it seem like they don't show up very often. When we play a team like we did tonight it would be nice to have some extra entertainment to look at. At least it was a win.

FWIW when the new scoreboard gets there, that is at least one thing that Moody will have on Cameron Indoor. Cameron's current scoreboard looks like Moody's current scoreboard, with the exception of an LED message board.

No kidding, Buckethead! Where the hell were they? The dance team was probably out looking for new uniforms that aren't red & blue.

On a more positive note... the Mustang Band WAS there, as usual. Maybe they could learn to do a pyramid and a dance number or two and then the other two groups would be obsolete. The Mustang Band can do it all! Drawings of the administrative and practice facility were impressive. Exterior is really, really nice... matches the new Dedman. The cakes and cupcakes were a nice touch. Scoreboard will be terrific.

Here is the email I sent to Steve Orsini and Judith Banes.

Steve and Judith,
I can't even begin to tell you how angry it makes me when not a single member of the spirit squad is present for a home game while school is in session. Clearly, there was some direction from the coach or someone else that they need not show up. This is unacceptable for a program that aspires to act like a top 25 program.
It is no excuse that finals start today. Indeed, somehow the student band and the student athletes and the student managers and the 100 or so student fans managed to find 3 hours for a study break. This is not the crazy rant of someone not committed to academics. I graduated as the top Dedman College Senior student, was inducted to Phi Beta Kappa as a junior and went on to turn down Harvard law school and attend Duke law school. But if the team coaches or the members of the squad do not want to commit to what it takes to have the "top 25 attitude" by figuring out how to schedule their test preparation around the basketball games they are committed to support, then they don't need to be a part of the program.
Incidentally, I played in the band while in law school at Duke, and you better believe the band director or the spirit squad coach never told those student representatives to take the whole night off for a game during finals study week.
If there really is a hardship for some of the members, then they can structure their participation in a way that accomodates, as much as possible, that hardship, while fulfilling their obligations to support the basketball team (especially on a supposedly special night celebrating the 50th anniversary of Moody). There are 30 or so members of the cheer team and 15 or so on the dance team. At the very least, there should have been a plan to divide up the squads so that there would have been at least a presence support the teams. Perhaps they could have even divided up the team so that they need to only cover 1/2 the game if, in fact, they were actually devoting that whole evening to studying.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

There was a huge scheduling disaster last night. A buddy and I were driving up to the game and there were probably 1000 people out in the main quad for the Christmas light ceremony. You would think that SMU would be able to manage two huge on campus events by not scheduling them at the exact same time. I would be willing to bet that the spirit squad and cheerleaders were at the lighting.

I would be willing to bet you that they weren't. Of course if they were I bet it wasn't as part of the squads, but only an individual choice to go. I will interested to hear how Orsini and Banes respond. If you want to talk to the spirit coordinator directly his name is Zac Brannon at [email protected]
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

Even further proof that it being the night before finals is no excuse. And it gets dark at 5:30, any reason why this lighting couldn't be at 6:00 with a subsequent parade over to Moody for the game?

Anyone else notice that they used "there" when they should have used "their" on one of the trivia questions? That bugs me.

hey buddy...get over yourself...i'm glad you are academically inclined but some people have other priorities. I'm sure if SMU were playing Houston or Memphis, the school would have been there in huge support. AS it turns out we played some crap ace Texas College...who gives a [deleted]. Dont bother our AD with meaningless emails like such. It makes him more inclined to delete them as junk mail. Go [deleted] to someone in durham

I hate to beat this horse, but can you elaborate. Are we getting video? HD? Will there be other installments or just a center hung board.

Can the people who attend the groundbreaking Friday snap some pictures of any and all renderings and post them here? Thanks -
