"Break Through" Victory?? I have surveyed the media guide, and I don't really see one...someone help me, then we can debate the definition of "break through". Maybe the 1966 W @ Arkansas, after a 7-8 start, we then win 10 in a row (including that UA W), win the SWC, go to "the show", where we lose to KU, 96-90....next season, go 20-6, win the SWC again, go to the show....I don't know, is there another "moment(s)"??

Any cool wins over ranked teams?? A W over OU on Thursday would have been a mini break through...long live Bob Prewitt.

I remember a game vs. Louisville televised by I want to say ABC or CBS from Moody in the mid-1980s. The year after the tournament loss to Georgetown, I think.

That was a great win for the boys, unfortunately, they lost to tcu 4 days later. But, beating a Denny Crum, early 80's Louisville team was sweet.....we did go 23-10 that year with another trip to the show, where we beat ODU and lost to Loyola, Chic.....Long Live Jon "Contract".

The last time we won the SWC - the win against Texas at home was pretty sweet. That was a Penders Club though - not sure how good they really were in 92-93.

beat nc st. and jimmy v. in 85 or 86....kato armstrong lit up the 2 superstar nc st. guards.... also first round ncaa tourny win vs. notre dame in 86 or 87 where armstrong lit up the notre dame all american guard and future la laker.....what was that guys name?

We beat a ranked Purdue team at Purdue just a couple of years ago didn't we. Did not cause much of a breakthru however.

remember when SMU almost beat Tulsa, when they were a top 5 team in the country? They were coached by Bill Self. They had to hit a fadaway 3 from the corner to send it into OT. Then in OT we were up 1 with 5 seconds left. I was about ready to storm the court. Then they threw it in to power forward Brandon Kurtz sp? and he dribbled the ball down the court uncontested and just shot an open layup as time expired...we lost by 1 and I was heartbroken.

I would say the victory over UNC in the mid 80s at the sold out Greensboro Coliseum should have qualified, but then the team self destructed right after that. Carl Wright's swan song.

In the fall of 1987, we beat Florida, who was ranked in the top 10 at the time. The game was at Reunion Arena. The Florida team included Vernon Maxwell.

In the spring, after winning the SWC and the SWC Tourney, we beat Notre Dame in the first round of the tourney on St. Patrick's Day.

Not to mention Dwayne Schintzius and Andrew Moten (super-fast PG). Todd Alexander (or maybe it was Eric Longino?) dropped in about 40 three-pointers that day. What a game that was.

Good call, PonySoprano....that might be the one, 1987 v. top 10 Florida with their "big boy" lineup. Remember sitting on the floor at Reunion with a good friend. 13-1 home record, 12-4 in the SWC and 28-7 overall. Lost to NC, Louisville and Duke that year, to name a few. BEAT ND, Arkansas in Hogland, Tech 2x, Houston 2x , with a fine W over baylor in the SWC touney.

Todd Alexander shot 45% form 3 land that year, man he was exciting...Logino missed only 5 free throws all season (45-50), the great Terry Thomas with 8 boards per, and Kato leading the way with 16 ppg...FUN year....Long LIve J D Green.

Don't forget Glen Puddy holding down the Center position. That was a fun team to watch and many fun nights at Moody. The best win might have been beating Arkansas at Barnhill that year.

I'll never forget the tournament game against ND where to start the game Kato Armstrong penetrated from the top of the key and dunked over Damon Sweet to start the game.
