SMU looks for 10th win of season at Memphis
Mustangs embark on first league road swing

DALLAS (SMU) - After posting its first conference win of the season, the SMU women's basketball team looks for win number two Friday night against Memphis in its first Conference USA road swing of the season. The Mustangs (9-4, 1-0 C-USA) face the Lady Tigers (3-12, 0-1 C-USA) at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on KKGM Radio (1630 AM).

Winners of three of their last four games, the Mustangs are 4-6 in their last 10 league road openers.

Scouting Memphis...
In her third season as head coach, Blair Savage returns three starters from last year's 3-25 team. Thiis season, the Lady Tigers are struggling in the win column, having defeated Central Arkansas, Lipscomb, and Southeastern Louisiana. Memphis has lost four straight and seven of its last eight games. As a team, Memphis shoots 36.1% from the field while its opponents have posted a 45% shooting percentage. The Lady Tigers average 61.9 points while allowing 77.8 opponent points. Individually, the Lady Tigers are led by senior guard Devin Necaise who scores 12.1 points per game. Memphis' leading rebounder is sophomore forward Ashley Thornton with 7.1 boards per game.

Series History with the Lady Tigers...
Friday marks only the third meeting between SMU and Memphis with the series history tied at 1-1. Last year, SMU soundly defeated the Lady Tigers by the score of 67-45 on Jan. 13 at Moody Coliseum. Katy Cobb scored a team-high 12 points while Sarah Davis added a game-high 10 rebounds. The first meeting took place on Dec. 10, 1994, when SMU lost to the Lady Tigers, 99-77, in Memphis as part of the Kitchens Unlimited-Union Planters Bank Classic.

Pony Tales...
** Junior Janielle Dodds tallied a career-high 30 points vs. Tulsa this past Tuesday. She single-handedly scored 46.8% of SMU's 64 total points.

** The last time SMU player to score 30 or more points was Andrea Cossey when she poured in 31 points vs. Hawaii on Feb. 14, 2004, at Moody Coliseum.

** Freshman Alice Severin collected her first collegiate double-double Tuesday night with 10 points and 10 rebounds vs. Tulsa.

** In the NCAA national statistics dated Dec. 31, SMU is ranked 14th in the nation in free throw percentage, 25th in field goal percentage defense, 67th in three-point field goal percentage and 74th in scoring margin.
