I think we are up, once again CSTV is foiling my attempt to enjoy the game - no sound. Will listen on the radio.

Team looks good so far except for the sloppy passing. SMU up 16-7 with 12:00 left in the 1st.

I wish I was in Dallas, I hate seeing all of those empty seats

47-23 at the half. If we can work on the passing we can really blow them out

Agreed - hopefully as students return and March approaches the crowds will grow (assuming the team remains competitive).

SMU up 47-23 @ the half.

Why was a video of a dance routine from a high school pom pom squad shown during half time? I know the kids are not in school but can we not find something better?

I don't like how they are so are able to score on us on the inside so easily

Very nice touch, the guys giving Coach Doherty the game ball for his 100th career win. We shot the ball well early, making the first seven 3s, I think, basically ending the game before halftime. Scary moment when Bamba Fall got knocked out cold, but apparently he's OK. Good to see Killen, Roberts, Pearson, etc., hitting their 3s. If we shot like that the last two games, we beat N.C. A&T and we don't get embarrassed at Oklahoma -- very encouraging to see what we can do with a little shooting.

horrible 3 pt shooting by utpa helps too; they missed a ton of wide open shots

Bamba Fall was elbowed in the jaw in the second half and went out cold. Unfortunately, none of the refs saw the infraction, so UTPA wasn't called for a foul. Bamba was on the floor for a good five minutes before a couple teammates were able to help him off the court and to the locker room. It was quite frightening to see this, and to see that the officiating was so poor. Hopefully, he'll have a good night tonight and will only have a bad headache tomorrow.

Best part of the game, other than the win, was seeing Doh, at about the 18 minute mark, getting visibly upset with the five players who started the second half, calling a timeout and subbing for all five in mass, making them stand during the timeout while he talked to their subs who were sitting and then having one of the assistants group them together for a lecture. While they were not out very long, they seemed to have new energy when they returned.

The Good & the Bad

Snipets taken from the game last night.

Good - 3pt shooting was great; Killen played a great all around game,
only 1 turnover; the three guards only had 4 turnovers; Doh's subbing
5 players and instructing the starters while they were on the bench;
Great defense in the first half; moving the ball up the floor more
crisply and getting into the offense sooner; free throws were
outstanding for most of the game - didn't miss one until the 4th qtr.
The win would probably have been 90-65 if Doh hadn't subbed the
walkons to play the last 2 minutes. Another good - the walkons and
2nd team got needed playing time.

Bad - After the 1st half when victory was already assured the defense
gave up too many easy baskets; the worst thing I saw was that our
big men still can't catch the ball - we probably had 6-7 turnovers in
the post because Rack & Ike & Bamba still can't catch the ball.
Bamba still can't post up and pin his man to receive a pass; and lastly
the timing between the perimeter players trying to feed the post men
is atrocious - not sure if it is the big men or the feeders who are off
but probably both.

Having said the above - I was happy with the way they responded to Doh's
tactics of loosening up some and listening to Killen's suggestions. The
inspiring video highlights helped too. Great win Mustangs - keep it up.
I'm still projecting a 20 win season but must admit the loss to NC A&T
set us back some.
