This is the same place that used to be in Snyder Plaza. They have made significant upgrades to it and it is a really first class sports bar. They have a lot of large plasma screen TV's and and really good food. They also have quality help, if you know what I mean

Good place to watch a ballgame. About 10 plasma screens or so, a big 100+ inch HD projection screen, good food on the cheap, an old school sit down Ms. Pacman machine among other of the normal video games (Golden Tee, Bowling etc). They have jerseys with the number 10 from all the major pro teams in Texas framed and hung around the bar. Maybe someone can suggest to Marketing or Doherty himself to supply them with a #10 SMU jersey to be hung on the wall with all the rest! Ten used to be in Snyder Plaza right by campus and have since relocated to downtown.
On an SMU connection note, one of the owner's (Chad Lewis) wife is the head dance instructor for our fantastic SMU Dance Squad which is oh so talented and one of my favorite perks about a trip to Moody.
Hope we have a good turnout and show Doherty some support in his first radio show. Think we will have 15-20 Mustang fans out there?

What station is it on? I'm sure I could look it up on one of the past posts; but for convenience, could somebody let all of those that will be listening know how? I'll have to listen on my way home from work.

This man is right on. And I cannot believe I forgot to mention the "quality help" in the same breath as our very own SMU Dance Team.

A sports bar no one's heard of...miles from campus...downtown, no less, with a show during rush hour...AND you have to pay to park?
Is ISP trying to drive people away? I don't know what kind of a deal SMU is getting from this place, but there are dozens of sports bars and restaurants within walking distance of SMU. If getting a big crowd was a priority, they should have hooked up with one of them.
I guess they're thinking they will get the businessman-fan as he leaves his office downtown, but that's a big assumption.

I would be willing to bet that there target audience was not the students, therefore having it in downtown Dallas makes perfect sense because it is centrally located.
If you are worrying about putting a few quarters in the meter then they probably do not care if you are there or not.
Like a previous poster said, the owner of the bar's wife is the coach of the SMU dance team and I know that some of the Mavs used to be part owners of the old location. There could possibly be some connection with the Mavs.

Just be happy he has a show, and you can always take the dart train if you can't handle the parking. The metroplex covers alot of ground so the location will always be good for some and bad for others. Also, this is the only show during rush hour due to the championship game.

Umm, longtime, it's a pretty popular place and most people have heard of it.

It is my understanding that if you need to you can listen to it on the radio.

That is what it was designed for. If this is an upscale sports bar, it was chosen for the name and not so the SMU kids can show up. It is a status kind of deal I would imagine. Just enjoy it on 770am. You can go to Moody if you want to see the coach in person.

I'll be listening on the internet from Athens. This is a really good thing Doh's doing. Do some of the Mavs still own part of it or did they sell their share?

Look, I'm happy as all get-out that Coach Doherty has a call-in show. I sincerely hope it's a success.
I'm just saying that the location isn't all that accessible to SMU's core audience, most of whom I bet live within a 10-mile radius of campus. Maybe even a five-mile radius. Even with the loft craze, there aren't that many people that live downtown - or who circulate there - compared to other entertainment areas of the city. Yeah, I know SMU needs to reach out to Dallas, but for a start-up show you want to do everything you can to ensure it's a success.
It's not about being able to afford a few bucks to park, it's the inconvenience. It gives people one more reason to say, "Naah, I don't think I'll go tonight." Little things like that can really make a difference.
Maybe I'm not as hip to the downtown scene as I should be, but I gotta think a location on Greenville or in Addison would get a lot more traffic.
When you have to pass out fliers at the basketball game explaining where Ten is and what the parking situation is, I don't think it's a place "most people" have heard of.
Yes, you can always listen on the radio rather than attend, but I'm sure they want an enthusiastic crowd there. Besides, this is the chance for SMU to reach out to Dallas. From its website, this place seems to cater to the pro athlete crowd. Not sure that's the best location for a college coach's show, but I hope it works out.

That is why it is called a call in show and not a walk in show.
