Beyond FSU and Dayton we have not played anyone worth mentioning. Let's see if we can win 50% of the conference games and we can consider this year a success. If I remember correctly we are picked to finish 8th.

Just curious who shows up to the press conferences? Sounds like this CUSA guy does and occasionally DMN Kate, who else?

That was a great game. I looked for the writeup and don't remember it, but there's been a lot of Big 12 coverage this week. Maybe C-USA will get some love this week as we start conference play. ;)

Kate Hairopoulos is at nearly every game, but was dispatched to Fort Worth this Saturday to cover the Derrant Williams funeral. I'm at every home game, as are Rick Atkinson (cusa-fans.com correspondent) and Jordan Hofeditz (Daily Campus). Scott Farrell (Park Cities People) is at most, as well, and the occasional radio person or sometimes a member of the media covering the visiting team.

So what's your excuse for why on the same day SMU won in OT to go 11-3 there was an article about TCU (remind me who they've beaten and/or played again -- see below for hint) and a photo of an Arkansas State player scoring over a North Texas player in a UNT loss (remind me who they've beaten and/or played again)? Lots and lots of schools haven't beaten much of anyone yet because someone has got to play the bottom half of the RPI sometime, but they still get coverage. Even Texas has so far played powerhouses such as Texas Southern, Centenary, Texas State, Nicholls State, Chicago State, Alcorn State, and UT-Arlington.

I agree that not everything is attributable to lack of DMN coverage, but when we don't win, you people say "win and they'll cover you". When we do win, you say "just winning is meaningless, we might as well have lost. Beat the 'right' teams, and they'll cover you." What will be the excuse next?

Remind me again about how many HUNDREDS of fans care enough to actually go to see SMU play the School of the Blind? I think the DMN ought to do a story about how SMU's Head Coach and AD have put together the MOST BORING basketball schedule ever played at SMU. I'd read that.

DMN coverage of SMU basketball has been fairly decent this year. There has been around three games (like the Brown game) that the only story was a recap in the briefs section. In situations like those three games, I was pretty pissed off! There is no excuse for SMU, (the only d1 school in Dallas) to ever get a game story lumped in with the (briefs) section. The DMN did go to the expense, time, and trouble of getting through a blizzard, to send a writer to Boulder to cover the UT game.
