MATT DOHERTY ON KFWD TV-52 KIA SOUTHWEST SPORTS TALK EACH THURSDAY

DALLAS (SMU) --- SMU men’s basketball coach Matt Doherty will make a weekly appearance on Southwest Kia Sports Talk on KFWD TV-52 each Thursday until the NCAA Final Four. The show is hosted by Josh Roe and airs weekdays at 6:30 p.m.

“We are excited that Coach Doherty will be joining us on Thursdays throughout the season,” says Roe. “He is one of the best basketball coaches in the country, and we know he will be a great asset to the show.”

Doherty and the Mustangs are off to an 11-3 start, which is the best beginning on the Hilltop since 2000-01. The Mustangs open Conference USA action on Wednesday, Jan. 10, when the Mustangs host the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

“I am excited to talk SMU basketball and college basketball with fans in the Metroplex,” says Doherty. “Josh has a fantastic show, and I am looking forward to visiting with him each week as Conference USA and college basketball action heats up.”

Doherty spent two years working as a college basketball analyst for ESPN, CSTV, and C-SET before returning to coaching at Florida Atlantic in 2005-06. He also served as a guest analyst for several Dallas Mavericks’ pregame shows on TV-52 and WFAA Ch. 8 during their run to the 2006 NBA Finals.

His weekly radio show, Inside College Hoops with Matt Doherty, began on Jan. 8. The weekly radio show is hosted by Rich Phillips, the voice of the Mustangs, is on KAAM 770 AM, the home of Mustangs’ basketball. The weekly event is held at Ten Sports Grill in downtown Dallas beginning at 7 p.m.

I had the pleasure of talking to Doh last night for several minutes before his radio show. The man exudes confidence but is also a realist. He knows he has his work cut out for him with this team but he truly believes they will not disappoint. I hope he is right.

Anyone want to skirt copyright laws and post this on YouTube?

Better yet, can the webbies work something out with the SMU admin to allow them to post it on ponyfans? Any help for the out of towners is much appreciated.

Hey myrdel: Sometimes it is a long reach for the remote.

I think I'll charge myself 8 bucks for parking in my garage every time I watch it.
