Here's the thread where we lament the UTEP loss

since the closest thing we had to a game thread was the one where we complained about All-Access (or lack thereof), here ya go.

We were up by 14 in 1st half.
8 in the second half.

And no baskets for 6 minutes late.

A whoollle bunch of turnovers.

An 0-4 start.

Discuss.

Here's a question. I haven't seen a game live yet this season. Is there just an overall talent disparity between us and our conference-mates? If so, how confident are we that Doherty's recruiting class next year will make an impact?

There.

First question to Doh on his radio show Monday. Will we win another game this season? Hard to blame him since he inherited a team that I believe only won 4 conference games last year and that team had Hop. Cannot wait for Spring football, spring soccer, fall football and fall soccer, not necessarily in that order. Then we get to see a Doh recruited team.

1. We are not very talented.
2. Word has gotten out that we can't handle the ball vs. the press, half court trap, whatever. After watching the alumni thing at halftime, I think Billy Allen could probably break the press better than the group we've got.
3. We had a lot of really, really easy wins early.
4. This team did not respond well after Doherty sent Roberts to the showers in the middle of a game a few weeks back. This team did not respond to this tactic. Very un-Carolina-like. Would Dean have done this? Would Roy have done this? This was part of Doherty's downfalll at UNC and also what he was criticized for at ND. The team we're watching is not the team that pushed Florida State and beat Dayton. Welcome to reality.

Ike and Rack killed us on the inbounds under the basket. It started going downhill there. I hope I never see either one of them inbounding again. Also Ike missed some close shots early and crucial free throws at the end, yet he was our second leading scorer (i think).

The press is the diffeence from in these losses. I hope we have some ball handlers in the next class. There were some good things, but these home losses are hard to take.

Good to see despite our losing streak the crowd was actually larger than last game. Somebody is doing something right. The last two home post game interview Doh mentioned the crowd size which indicates how important the hiome crowd is to him. The UTEP fans helped attendance, but I thought there weere still more in general.

I loved seeing Kato plaing again. He gave us lots to cheer about back in the day.

But did the band play the right music tonight?

the ponies basically found a way to lose tonight. Utep is far from a great team, not nearly as good as the teams they had the last few years with Tofi and company. Cusa is really down it seems to me and we are still 0-4. 8 point lead with 5 minutes left and then collapse at home. Ugh. problems seemed as much mental as physical tonight. just a team lacking confidence all around.

My goodness, you will be hard "pressed" to find a div. 1 team that is worse at passing and general ball handling. It is almost a miracle, if we can get the ball past midcourt. Ike looks like a deer in the headlights, when he gets any pressure. 24 TURNOVERS, and a bunch of close calls. What really concerns me, is that we seem to be getting worse. We looked like the keystone cops out there. Come on next season!

So any of those 3point hailing alumni have any eligibility left?

Why was Willingham benched towards the end of the game....he seemed to be handling the press way better than Killen and he even took one all way for a bucket....didn't understand doh's move on that

Go to Doh's radio show on Monday and ask him.

Uh oh. 0-4. This might get ugly.

Can we beat Tulane? - I say we win this. 1-4

Unfortunately, pretty likely from what I've seen so far:
At Tulsa (almost beat UH tonight) - L
at UAB - L
at Memphis - L
vs Houston - L

1-8 perhaps?

I agree. What worries me is we didnt get a standout point guard in our recruiting class. I'm not sold on Mike Walker yet
