Live from the FedEx Forum...

...the first 12-15 minutes were somewhat encouraging, then the "predictable" bottom fell out...we played tough, gave it our best effort, but it was men v. boys today. Memphis is BIG, fast, athletic and can flat out shoot the rock, not to mention they out hustled us for every loose ball / rebound. Where was our conference leading 3 - point D??
I like Dez...wish he could score, however. Ike had a solid game, Epps has lost his "baby fat" from last year and seems to have improved. We just don't have anybody who can light it up...we seemed to be tradding 2's for 3's, 2's for 1's...plus, what? 25 3's for Memphis State? We are a better coached team v. last year, for what it's worth...
The Memphis State fans, or at least the 75+ in ear shot, are the most mean spirited, not cheering for their team but against your team, pissy, spoiled, chip on their shoulder, inferiority complexed, nasty, 48" waist, Flo from Mels' Diner, "is there a tracker pull later?" bunch I have EVER seen...Memphis is a crappy school, makes UofH look like Harvard, after thought football program, shunned by the SEC / Big East, etc. for years, an arena littered with NIT banners...the ONLY thing they remotely got is their bball program, and I would put a big fat astersik on that...hopefully, one day when we climb to "Memphis Like" success in bball, we will be cool....GO PONIES!! Long Live Larry Davis.

Wow, I didn't think it was possible for any school, to make Houston look like Harvard! I bet a good shoe salesman and dentist, could have made a killing in that arena though

you need to get over yourself...Memphis is carrying this conference in basketball right now...and you obviously know nothing about the University of Memphis.
the FedEx Institute of Technology:
McWherter Library:
The University of Memphis was founded under the auspices of the General Education Bill, enacted by the Tennessee Legislature in 1909. Known originally as West Tennessee State Normal School, the institution opened its doors Sept. 10, 1912, with Dr. Seymour A. Mynders as president.
Students in the first classes selected blue and gray as the school colors and the tiger as the mascot. Tradition holds that the colors, those of the opposing armies during the Civil War, were chosen in commemoration of the reuniting of the country after that divisive conflict.
Over the next decade, The Desoto yearbook was created, the first library was opened in the Administration Building, the first dining hall was built and the first men's dorm was built; today that dorm, Scates Hall, houses the College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's offices.
In 1925 the name of the college changed to West Tennessee State Teachers College. Three years later, the Brister Library was built, named after two-term president John W. Brister. In 1931 the students created a campus newspaper, The Tiger Rag; and in 1935 the school's agriculture department was discontinued.
The college changed names again in 1941, becoming Memphis State College, and in 1946, J. Millard "Jack" Smith became president - the first alumnus to hold the position. In 1950 graduate studies were initiated, and in 1954 the school switched from a quarter to a semester system.
In 1957 the state legislature designated Memphis State full university status. In 1959 the university admitted its first black students, and the first doctoral programs began in 1966. The 1970s, under President Cecil C. Humphreys, saw new buildings constructed across the campus, including a University Center and a 12-story library. In 1983 MSU became the first public university in Tennessee to gain accreditation of its entire curriculum.
The 1990s were characterized by another name change and another building boom. In 1994 MSU became the University of Memphis, and the Ned R. McWherter Library was completed. Moving into the 21st century, the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management and the FedEx Institute of Technology have made their mark on the University landscape.
Today, the University of Memphis is one of Tennessee's three comprehensive doctoral- extensive institutions of higher learning. Situated in a beautiful park-like setting in the state's largest city, it is the flagship of the Tennessee Board of Regents system. It awards more than 3,000 degrees annually.
With an enrollment of approximately 21,000 students, The University of Memphis has 24 Chairs of Excellence, more than any other Tennessee university, and five state-approved Centers of Excellence.

It's not. It's in downtown Memphis. They share it with the Grizzlies.

geez...what a bunch of private school [deleted].
i think i saw you at the game...we're you the one in the acid washed, elastic pants from 1980?
it had to be...i saw all of 10 SMU fans out of 14,000 Tiger fans.
as a university, Memphis is on par with both the university of tennessee and middle tenn state (tennessee's other large public schools)...we're a major public research institute with a public endowment of 200 million...we have a local economical impact of over one billion dollars...it is the flagship of the Tennessee Board of Regents system (includes Univ. of Memphis, MTSU, ETSU and TN Tech)....Memphis has 24 Chairs of Excellence, more than any other Tennessee university, and five state-approved Centers of Excellence.
get over yourselves and take your loss like men.
YOURS STINKS TOO!!!
Go Tigers!!!

the University of Memphis doesn't have room on-campus for athletic facilities...we're lucky that the city of Memphis has top notch facilities we call home.
