I was there

Saw the game last night, and it wasn't fun, but I was glad to get a chance to see Coach Doherty and the Ponies in person. Basically, we just didn't have the horses to keep up. Some of our guys -- Killen, Ike-O -- were good in spurts, but UTEP simply had more athletes. Dez shot the ball OK. Roberts looked more active than I thought he'd be (hasn't he had a bad knee injury lately?), but just looked like he was a little off all night -- not that he didn't put forth the effort, just not his night. We're not without talent, just very thin. With Devon Pearson and Bamba Fall, I don't know that we'd win the game, but it certainly would have been more competitive. I'm not sure I agree with Coach's comment about no fight -- I thought several guys, especially Killen, played hard. Just sort of felt like we'd brought knives to a gun fight, or however that phrase goes.
Whatever -- a long night cheering for my Ponies, but I'm always glad to get to see them play. I'm excited about next year's freshman class, and I thank the seniors for their effort over the years, and wish hope for great success in the future for each of them.
I'll be back Saturday to cheer the SMU women on to a victory over the Lady Miners. GO PONIES!
