HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) -- Southern Miss basketball coach Larry Eustachy has agreed to a two-year contract extension.

Eustachy said the new contract will keep him at the Conference USA school through the 2010-11 season.

The contract will be presented to the College Board for its approval in May, he said, and details will not be available until then.

"It was never an issue," Eustachy said in an article at www.clarionledger.com. "Loyalty works both ways and Southern Miss has been very loyal to me.

"Im extremely comfortable here in Hattiesburg and look forward to staying here."

Eustachy guided his team to its best season in years. The Golden Eagles were 20-11 after winning 21 games in the two previous seasons.

Eustachy earned a total of $230,000 from base salary and his radio and television shows last season.

Interesting. I'd heard he wanted to be in the Arkansas discussions.

Think Eustachy is wishing he pulled a Gillespie and AGREED to his deal without SIGNING it? Then again, since coaches' contracts mean nothing these days anyway, who cares? If he gets the Hogs' call, he's headed to Fayetteville. I just don't think he's going to get a call.
