As everybody knows by now, I'm a huge B-Hop fan, and I'm glad he's not giving up on his dream of playing in the NBA. He's trying out for the Mavs summer league team again, and will most likely be on it. He's got an uphill climb with the Mavs, as they already had a young point guard in place last year (JJ Barea), and I've heard through the grapevine that the Mavs are looking to draft a young point guard this year as well. Either way, I hope he impresses someone, and that I get to see him play in the league soon

I'd go to more Mavs games, that's for sure.

Kind of surprised to see N.C. State-ex (and ex-Nugget) Julius Hodge on that list. I know he had some horrible (car accident?) in Denver, so maybe his health caused his exit from the Nuggets, but .... I assume if he's trying out, he has recovered fully.

GOOD LUCK, HOP!

Actually, I think he was shot while on the highway after leaving a nightclub. I don't think he ever fully recovered from that and the Nuggets probably let him go after his contract ran out.

Correct on the shooting.

However, Hodge was part of the trade with Earl Boykins to Milwaukee (for Steve Blake) and he was subsequently waived by the Bucks. I believe he was fully recovered, but became expendable when Michael Redd returned from an injury.

Best of luck to both Julius and Bryan with their tryouts with the Mavs!

Didn't make the team. Warren Carter, another kid from the area - Lake Highlands - did..............

it's not out of the question though that he'll appear on a Mavs team this summer, though. There's an A squad and a B squad.

He is not on the roster in the DMN. Didnt say A or B. It does list Warren Carter, yes (who is that?)

Warren graduated from Lake Highlands 5 years ago - I think - and went to U of Illinois. He was part of that wave of great players the metroplex produced back then - Bracey Wright, Deron Williams, Bosh, B-Hop, Jeremis Smith, Diogu among others. He's got a pretty talented younger brother down at A$M named Josh..................
