Bill Raftery To Speak At Basketball Tip-Off Dinner On Oct. 9
Event At Moody Coliseum Begins At 6:30 p.m.
DALLAS (SMU) --- The SMU men's basketball team will host its second-annual Tip-Off Dinner presented by Guaranty Bank at Moody Coliseum on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. Legendary basketball analyst Bill Raftery will serve as the keynote speaker and head coach Matt Doherty will give insight into his second season on the Hilltop.

Keynote speaker Bill Raftery is in his 24th season as an analyst for CBS Sports' college basketball coverage. He also serves as an analyst for CBS Radio/Westwood One's coverage of the NCAA Men's Final Four and for college basketball on ESPN. Since 1981, Raftery has announced several events, including the Big Ten Championship, the ACC Championship, the Big East Championship, the SEC Championship, the McDonald's High School All-Star game and the NIT pre-season and championship games.
The Mustangs' 2007-08 season begins when SMU hosts the inaugural SMU Tip-Off Classic on Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday Nov. 11. The Mustangs face Southern on Saturday at 7:35 p.m., and then matchup with Alabama State on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. The Ponies will have a team-record 18 home games at Moody Coliseum and play a total of 22 events in the state of Texas. Conference USA action begins at UTEP on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and concludes at Rice on Mar. 8. The Mustangs' home schedule concludes when defending league champion Memphis visits Moody Coliseum on Mar. 5. The Conference USA Championship returns to the FedEx Forum in Memphis from March 12-15.
