Jon and Coach talked to Seth Davis and the old Wake coach on CSTV Media day.
Talked about Papa Dia being "cleared" to play and ok with back problems.
Mike Walker will probably share point with Killen.
Doherty said that it will be more up tempo with better ball handlers and attack before the opposing defense gets set.
It had Dez on the list of returning starters - did he officially transfer?
SMU Picked 11th in CUSA coaches poll.

A few things;
1) Doh likes the depth & ball handling of this team a lot more than last
2) Doh, when speaking w/Pete Gillen, compared Papa Dia to one of Gillens old players, Travis Watson(UVA).
3) Walker to split time at point w/Killen
4) Didn't come off as drunk like Larry Eustachy

Good news on Papa Dia. But more importantly, Mike Walker immediatley going to step in and play PG. Think Mike Walker. Think Mike Wallker. Think Mike Walker.

I guess Killen is a good leader but he can't play PG very well. Hopefully he worked very [deleted] his ball handling this summer.

Being picked 11th in CUSA out of 12 means that we are looking at 1-4 wins this year in conference per the "experts". I can't wait to see the venom start once conference play begins and the losses start to mount up. Keep in mind this is a young team. They need to grow together and get to know each other and wins will be hard to come by this year. An 11th place finish means we don't qualify for the conference tourney, either, if my memory serves me correctly. I will be interested to see how people hold their water come February. I also hope, putting my kool aid in the glass as I type, that we do much better than the "experts" predict. But following the jtstang theory, if I don't expect much, I won't be disappointed.

As long as they don't run the swinging gate (or whatever the football team runs), I will not be disappointed with the team! I think it's going to be an exciting year and how strange will it be to see 7 freshmen!!

The fact that we are competing for recruits with some of the better basketball programs in the country will be enough incentive for me to watch us finish 11th if that is the case. I really appreciate the direction the program is heading and I understand the reality of having 7 freshman on a team. I hope everyone else has a realistic view and can see that we are going the right way.

I like the fact that Coach Doh goes beyond a self-imposed (for others) 300 mile radius to recruit players. I'm looking forward to this season. Even if this year's record isn't great, you've got a feeling that the future will be.

Before you go get his image tattooed somewhere, have you EVER seen this guy play? Or did your obsession begin with an article that said he knows how to tie his shoes?
I hope you're right - I hope he's the next Jason Kidd/Steve Nash/Gilbert Arenas/(other great guard), but what do you say we give the guy a chance to prove whether he can play?

This is what a great coach can do...energize a program simply by excitement, recruiting, and potential. We KNOW good things will come with Doh here.
Wish I could say the same about our football program!

Really all you have to see is Killen play and you'll know a guy who's even played the point before will be an improvement. Killen tries hard, but cannot go to his left to save his life. Hopefully he's worked on his shot enough to get some time at the 2.
