Nyakundi

Anyone know why Nyakundi was not on the bench last night? I saw him standing with the students in street clothes. I know that he is redshirting but i thought that it was strange to not see him on the bench.

No, dont know why, but I thought that was odd, too. At first I thought it couldnt be him when I spotted him in the students, but then I noticed he wasnt on the bench. No idea why.

He was also at the gym yesterday shooting around, didn't think they were allowed to do that during the season.

There's no NCAA rule against shooting around on your own during the season.

Most coaches, though, tell their players no intramurals or pickup games during the season. That's just common sense to avoid injuries. I've never heard of a coach telling players not to shoot around on their own. Most encourage it, particulary if someone is having trouble with thier shot.

Yeah I never meant it was an NCAA rule, I guess it makes sense that he would workout on his on (if hes not screwing around in pickup games). I just have never seen any players at Dedman on their own, with the exception of Paulius at 6am during the offseason working on his jumper.

i played with ike, justin isham, bhop, devon pearson, katie cobb, patrick simpson, trent redden (lol) among others at dedman.

Bamba and cameron play with us in the offseason. Coach won't allow it during the actual season though.

Unless he's a medical redshirt, I thought redshirts could practice, they just couldn't play in games. The idea of redshirting is to allow an underdeveloped player time to develop. I can't imagine not allowing a redshirt to practice and be coached. But then again when did the NCAA make any sense. If he's ineligible that's another story.

So is Nyakundi redshirting or is he off the team. I haven't seen him sitting on the bench so I fear the worst. If he is no longer on the team, what is the reason? Inquiring minds want to know!

The last time I checked he was still on the roster but red shirting. He sits in the student section with SMU sweats on.
