Clarification on Red Shirting

Does someone have any NCAA wording on Men's B-Ball? Are the red shirts burned the minute they step on the floor? Is it percentage of minutes, plays, or games like football?

I know people have their "opinions", but I want to see the wording from the NCAA...

I'm not sure where to find them...

The rules for redshirting are the same for all sports. Once you step onto the field/court/whatever your redshirt is burned. All sports. First time you play, it's done. People confuse redshirting with the medical hardship waiver, by referring to it as a "medical redshirt". Again, the rules are the same for all sports. This isnt my opinion, I've posted the specific regulations straight from the NCAA manual on this board several times. You can find the entire manual here:

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/sta ... manual.pdf

The rules regarding the hardship waiver can be found on page 137 of that document, and read like this:

14.2.4 Hardship Waiver. A student-athlete may be granted an additional year of competition by the conference
or the Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet for reasons of “hardship.â€

That he has provided at least 4 times this year. Yet people continue to spout off their "facts" which simply are not true. Thanks for putting this out there again X.

Thanks for the reply! Do you think Kwiatkowski (sp?) and Rhodes will get any kind of consideration (redshirt)? They haven't played enough (yet), but do they have anything to claim?

*sigh*

I'm going to speculate that your question is whether Kwiatkowski or Rhodes could receive a hardship waiver. If that's what your asking, at this point I would have to say, no. Their injuries were not that serious, and they both still practice and and still dress out for games. The hardship waiver requires that the injury be verifiable and incapacitating. If you are still practicing, then you arent incapacitated. The rules are specific on this point, if you intend to apply for the waiver, you have to stop practicing, and cannot be present on your teams bench in uniform.

Thanks again for the response...Again, to the rest of you a$$holes...Thanks for being the arrogant [deleted] you have always been...It was a real question...Have either one of those guys had prolonged injuries that are hampering them or we can claim...I don't wack off to rivals or blog sites like many of you do...I have a life...Just want to know some insight from people who seem to understand...

All of you make it real fun to ask any question that may be BELOW you...

Take a nice pill, go rent a prostitute for an hour...We all know you've got nothing to stick at home except for your hand...

Please just ask one more time if someone is eligble for a redshirt because they have not played very much. Yes it is a real question, it is just the most ignorant question that has been asked on this board for several years considering the entire NCAA rule was right before you. But please ask it again. It does give good humor as we wallow through the FB coaching search. Now excuse me while I go "whack off" at the NTSU site.
