worst loss ever?

Postby ALEX LIFESON » Tue Dec 18, 2007 11:02 pm

South Carolina Upstate gets their first ever win over a Div. 1 team. This was as bad as I have ever seen.

Why is it that everyone gets their first and best and most against SMU.

Are we a walking D1 punching bag?

Upstate had two guys under 6 feet who got significant playing time. The first points of the game were scored by a guy who can't be taller than 5'6 or 5'7. Most DISD teams would rout Upstate.

Now, what does that tell you about SMU?

That we should not play Dallas-based high school teams.

I'm not sure if any of their players, have seen the inside of a weight room. Except for their center, that looked like a white Bamba, most of Upstate's guy's were scrawny, short, and un-athletic. No excuse for a loss to a team like this.

If you only make 50% of your free throws, get out rebounded, shoot less than 40 % and tatally suck at clock management, you will get beat by anybody. As Doh admitted, this was a very discouraging loss.

Coach Doherty should be fired! A loss like this is inexcusable, SMU should be the biggest joke of a program in any sport in ANY DIVISION in college sports! I am embarassed to have graduated from there!

Do you want to know how many Coaches sucked during their first year. ( I know this is Doherty's second year but since he only had 1 post-signing date recruit in his first year-this is really his first year) Let me see Landry, Jimmy Johnson, Bear Bryant at A&M. I could go on but why should I-that says it all. You wouldn't fire them. SMU made a mistake in not going for JUCOs. SMU fans will pay the price until these guys are Juniors when SMU should be decent-not predicting greatness yet but be patient. See its all right being patient when you have some decent young players. Under halfway decent circumstances I can be just about as patient as any poster on this board. There is no such thing as magic pixie dust.
