Dodds, Wills Put Women's Basketball Back On Track

Bench adds 21 points, 14 rebounds in 77-70 win

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (SMU) - The SMU women's basketball team got 22 points from senior post Janielle Dodds and 16 from sophomore forward Delisha Wills en route to a 77-70 win at Hofstra University.

The victory - SMU's ninth in the last 10 games - improves the Mustangs' record to 9-2. Hofstra fell to 2-7.

The Ponies got a major boost from their bench, as Elbie Gates, Brittany Gilliam, Haley Day, Alice Severin, Katie Gross and LaShandra Hill combined for 21 points, 14 rebounds, seven steals and five assists.

Senior guard Katy Cobb chipped in with eight points and tied her career high with seven assists.

SMU will return to the court Dec. 29 when the Mustangs and Texas Tech Lady Raiders - each of whom received votes in the newest Associated Press Top 25 poll - face off in Lubbock in a game that can be heard on KKGM (1630 AM). The Mustangs defeated Tech, 72-61, last year at Moody Coliseum.
