Got to visit with Patrick Simpson, who was at the men's basketball game tonight vs. UCF. The former SMU forward is in his second year playing in China, in the city of Yingkou. Said that aside from the language -- he's picked up some, but said he still struggles -- the hardest part is food. He said those who live in cities like Shanhai and Beijing have access to every kind of food that's available in other countries, but in smaller cities like his .... he's grateful for the recent addition of a KFC. He said he doesn't start - he comes off the bench behind a 7-foot guy on a team that runs a guard-intensive system, and in a league in which teams are allowed to play no more than two "imports" (international players) in any quarter. He said the season normally would still be going, but that this year's season was cut short because of the upcoming Olympics (not construction - players in the league training for the Olympics, etc.) Seemed to be having a great time visiting with former teammates Kris Lowe and Eric Castro.

Just saw smupony and his wife on the videoboard (20.5 seconds left). She's much too good for you.

Thanks for the update on one of my all-time favorites. Glad Simpson is still getting to play ball for a living.
All the best, Pat!
