He's by far the worst sportscaster in the business, BAR NONE. Worse than Gumble, Collinsworth, or whoever else you want to name.

Yes, Walton is awful. However, put him up next to Brent Musberger, that Mark Jones guy (TNT?), John Madden (at least for the last 20 years), Bill South, Craig Way or Frog High's Brian Estridge, and it's time to nominate Walton for awards. Those guys are infinitely worse.
That doesn't even include the sideline morons like Jim Gray and Tony Siragusa (who at least can be funny once in a while). As for the studio clowns, James Brown, Terry Bradshaw and pretty much anyone else employed FOX are, as a rule, horrifically bad.
With all that said, though, you're right. Walton is pretty awful, too.
