Shout out to the students! It makes such a huge difference in the atmosphere of Moody for the students to be there behind the bench standing and having a little creative fun. I loved the interaction they had going on with the visiting hs students behind the east basket. They were both trying really hard to start the wave, but alas the median age at Moody is just too high right now.
Props to Orsini for shaking up the entire presentation of the games. Everything is running much more smoothly now and it makes a big difference. I like the new announcer, but he seriously needs to do a little studying and memorizing so he doesn't sound like somebody pushed a delay button.
WASN'T ABLE TO MAKE THE GAME, BUT THE STUDENTS LOOKED GREAT ON TV. I AGREE THAT THE ANNOUNCER MUST LEARN THE NAMES OF THE PLAYERS. I KNOW ONE TIME WHEN WE WENT AHEAD ON A HUGE 3 POINTER, RICE ALREADY HAD THE BALL DOWN ON THEIR END AND HE LET OUT WITH THE NAME AND THE FACT IT WAS A 3 ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER. KINDA ANTI-CLIMACTIC.

Re: Shout out to the students!
And did you see when the handed out that Campisi's pizza to the fraternity guys behind the SMU bench? One of them opened the box and it was like hyenas going after a dead animal carcass. It was only like 5 seconds before that box was empty.
My only complaint, being a student, is how uptight the suited, useless "guards" can be. I realize that some of the students can become vulgar, but they need to relax a little bit.

TWSS (that should get this thread deleted!) Derail the Frogs!
being a student, i feel its my duty to try and make it to as many games as possible, mens or womens. it baffles me why more students dont go. its ridiculous, especially for the fraternities since they have to walk 200 yards to Moody

Yes, I will give props to the fans, but honestly our fans really are pretty bad. I was guilty of this last night. In the first half, there was zero energy in the building, and no students even attempted to start any cheers. I always try and many times it succeeds and the cheers catch on like wildfire. Other times, people stare at me like I am from another planet when I jumping around going crazy. Maybe, it's because of my extremely high expectations, growing up watching Duke games. I don't know, it just upsets me that there is not more passion in the student section.
You are correct about our fans being bad, but I think it is a combination of the loyal fans being beat down from all of the losing and the median age of the fans being way too high. As for the students, I still have to give them an A for their effort based on the product that is on the floor. The first half Saturday night was some of the worst basketball you will ever see, and they stood the entire game and had a big party behind the bench. It is unfair to make comparisons to the ACC. When the students have a game to cheer for that actually means something to the season, then we can compare.
I agree 110 percent with that. If we could consistently have student support like that in a matchup of CUSA bottom feeders, it makes me optomistic that student support will only get better as the team does also.

I want you to know that I am by no means "hating" on the fans. I understand that SMU has not won in "big draw" sports in a long time, which has created a malaise over the student body making them not go to the games. I understand that the casual fan at SMU has no real desire to attend games and know that when we start winning those casual fans will go to every game. So this is what I am proposing to you, the die hard fans and to the athletic department. I am going to write an e-mail and make this a new thread. The Memphis game is going to be HUGE, it will easily sell out, the student section will be rocking and I hope Moody will be too. In order to draw the WHOLE SMU community, I would like to have a giant tailgate in front of Moody lasting the whole day where students can stop by during the day to have a bite to eat or just hang out. It would create a positive buzz around campus and hopefully make everyone even more excited about the game. What do y'all think?
Those were students? I thought they just hired a bunch of extra event staff. They were dressed the same.
They were wearing ties more expensive than the event guys uniforms though. Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
Don't hold your breathe on that sell out.
I'm not sure if it will sell out, but only general admission seats are available right now.
