What is worse - the season or that the team has given up

I'd feel a whole lot better about next season if this team had shown any enthusiasm the last few games.

It seems they know the season is over and that there is no reason to play hard.

I'm disappointed that the coaches can't get them to play for their pride and self respect. Getting hammered by mediocre teams like ECU, USM ect. is giving up.

Being inexperienced is one thing - having no pride is another.

I've said it time and again, not worried about the talent right now, am worried about the defense. Since defense is mostly effort, there is a huge cause for concern.

Doh needs to get some serious talent in here, ASAP. His coaching ability is what it is, still laughed about in the ACC. The guy is a very average bench coach, and to be honest, I don't think he gets a ton from the kids. He's certainly not a coach that inspires overachievement. He has 1 skill, and that's talent evaluation and bringing in players. Honestly, that's enough in the refuge bin that is CUSA, but he better start doing it. Tonight made baby Jesus cry

Losing to ECU ought to be like getting kicked in the nads. Hopefully, on the trip back a few of them felt that way and come out with more purpose. Yes, an average bench coach with great talent can win games. Basketball is a simple game in reality and the key is to make sure that your talent exceeds their talent. The other thing an average bench coach should do is get one assistant who is an exceptional bench coach to coach the coach and develop the game plans for each game. Doherty would be well served to do that. I hope the players are doing 2x2 full court workouts and yo yo's all day today. Then perhaps they'll figure out that playing hard during the game is much easier than dealing with the pain of a quitter's practice the next day.

I wasn't suggesting kicking the players in the nads, I was suggesting that losing badly to another last place team like ECU ought to feel like getting kicked in the nads. And if it doesn't, then you shouldn't be playing competitive sports.

Gonna have to dig real deep. It would take a deal with the devil himself to pull off that upset.
