SMU starts two seniors, a junior and two freshmen.....our first three guys off the bench are two freshmen and a senior.

others in C-USA....
East Carolina starts two seniors, a junior, a sophomore and a freshman....their first three guys off the bench are freshmen.
UTEP starts two seniors, a junior and two freshmen.....their first three guys off the bench are two freshmen and a junior. btw, they have seven freshmen on a fifteen man roster
Rice starts a junior, two freshmen and two sophomores...their first three guys off the bench are two freshmen and junior.

I guess all these schools can use the same excuse we do.

I'd be interested in knowing who those two are, and why their being redshirted if they're "the best".

Yeah, but were those schools pumping up their freshman class. Calling them the core of a bright future and the best in decade, while getting zip in production from them? And, as recent as last week people saying they see improvement in this young group?

Okay great. So all three teams suck but we expected to suck a little less with our freshman. Does that suffice for you?

And as bad as everyone claims this freshman class is, I would like for someone to point to me a class that you think was better in the last 7-8 years. The '01 class of PSimp, Castro, Isham, Miller is the first one I can get to that could compare to this one. You could argue B-Hop's class which amounted to B-Hop and Rack but I would say that this class will end up having more impact than those 2 did. Its not saying much at this point, but this could very well end up being the best class we have had in close to a decade whether people are impressed or not.

It is not a valid comparison. We gave out SEVEN scholarships with this class. No other recent class comes close in numbers. My biggest problem is that Doherty should have saved a couple and went after the big class this year when he realized he wasn't going to get the guys he really wanted. These seven freshmen and the four we have coming in next year will be his legacy at SMU. I sure hope next year's guys have some game.

Well 4 have played significantly as freshman and 3 have either redshirted or not seen the floor (for all intents and purposes). I guess we will have to see how things turn out

If you are not able to get playing on a team this bad, that says everything....and it takes a pretty big issue for a basketball player to get redshirted (weight, injury, no chance for p.t. due to upperclassmen, or lack of talent)

You're right they all suck. And so do the ones that play.

One of them is the kid from Georgia Tech. They highlighted him as an impact player who transferred on the Duke-Ga Tech broadcast last night.

the fact that Harp distinguished himself from Rhodes early on was a not a good sign. this season is a bust unless we either find a miracle and beat Memphis or win a few games in the conference tournament. there is going to be alot of pressure on this class to improve alot by next year. can we really have another ugly season like this? also gotta hope Faye is a big difference maker which he could be, if he gets eligible which i hope is not an issue but gotta worry when X points out concerns.

Given that we only have 1 senior next year (Bamba Fall) and 1 junior next year (Cameron Spencer) and we are losing our two best players (Roberts and Killen) I don't look for a big season next year. However, I don't think Doh will have to worry about it for another 2 years or so. This Freshman class will have to mature for at least another year before the pressure will really be on. That's JMHO!
