Now that we're there, don't be satisfied

Does it feel good? Does it feel great?

I couldn't be more excited and proud of the women's team for what it accomplished this weekend. It's a wonderful feeling because those of us who watched this group closely all season realized it was capable of doing this. The inside-outside balance was too good for it not be a part of March Madness.

And it started with defense. Tulsa, Marshall and UTEP each shot 39, 40 and 33 percent respectively. Our points off of turnovers produced the difference in each game, in my opinion. Plus, it made a difference for us because we didn't shoot very well in the three days.

We also took care of the basketball. Think we were 12,13 and 13 in turnovers in each game. Pretty solid work.

Really, at no point in the title game against UTEP was I really worried. They just looked determined to finish this mission. And I still think we were the best team in CUSA even though we finished second in the regular season.

Congratulations to Rhonda and her staff for putting the pieces in place and guiding this through to the dance.

Hopefully, they will take the next few days to relax, get away from the game and come back by the end of the week ready to go.

My guess is we'll be seeded somewhere between 11-14. But this group can play with a lot of mid-BCS teams, which is probably what we'll get.

The keys will be strong production from Wills and Dodds and leadership from Shepherd and Samuels. Should we get that, we can advance to the second round.

A 24-8 record is electric. It was just a great feeling watching the hugs and smiles as time ran down. We're dancing, folks. We are dancing.

SMU! SMU! SMU!
